Betika vs SportPesa vs Odibets (2026): Which Kenyan Bookmaker Is Best?
Betika vs SportPesa vs Odibets is a contest between three home-grown Kenyan bookmakers. Betika has the largest share of brand searches in Kenya, SportPesa has paid the country’s biggest-ever jackpot, and Odibets has some of the sharpest odds we’ve seen measured in Kenya. All three take M-Pesa, all three were on the 2025/26 licence register, and all three deduct the same 5% taxes on deposits and withdrawals.
In this head-to-head for October 2026, we compare licences, jackpots, odds, promotions, payments, apps, support and safety, using regulator data, court reporting and independent tests, and pick a winner for each type of bettor.

📌 The short answer
Best overall and for jackpots: SportPesa. The record KSh 424.7 million Mega Jackpot, SMS and USSD betting, and the clearest 2026 licence disclosure of the three.
Best for Kenyan football and an easy app: Betika. Strong coverage of local leagues, a Google Play app, Betika Lite and the 17-game Grand Jackpot.
Best for odds and low stakes: Odibets. The lowest margins in ChampsBase’s same-day test, stakes from KSh 1, fast M-Pesa payouts and phone support that answered in seconds.
Licences: all three were on the 2025/26 register. The GRA hadn’t published its 2026 register by mid-October 2026, so check before you deposit.

🛡️ Licences: who’s ready for 2026?
Kenya’s Gambling Control Act 2025 replaced the Betting Control and Licensing Board with the Gambling Regulatory Authority. Old-regime licences remained valid until 24 September 2026, the High Court has been hearing a challenge to the new licence fees, and by mid-October 2026 the authority still hadn’t published a register of licences granted under the new rules. That affects all three brands.
SportPesa: Milestone Games Limited held licence 0001193 on the 2025/26 register and now displays GRAK/2026/BK185751 on its Kenyan site, according to Paybillke, which read it on 19 October 2026. That’s the clearest 2026 disclosure of the three.
Betika: Shop and Deliver Limited held BK 0001117 and PG 0001113 on the 2025/26 register. A court application reported by 254 News in October 2026 referred to new 2026 licence numbers for Betika while questioning how they were granted. Those are an applicant’s claims, not findings.
Odibets: Kareco Holdings Limited held bookmaker, public gaming and public lottery licences (BK0001095, PG-0001096, PL-0001097) on the register ChampsBase checked. The same court application referred to new 2026 numbers for Odibets, which it said appeared on Odibets’ website on 8 October and had been removed by 9 October.
⚠️ Before you deposit at any of the three, check gra.go.ke or call the GRA on 0800 723 770 to confirm the current licence.
ℹ️ Verdict: SportPesa leads on licence transparency. Betika and Odibets were licensed on the last published register, but their 2026 licences are tied up in a pending court application.

SportPesa and Betika run near-identical 17-match jackpots, and the odds are the same: 317 = 129,140,163 possible combinations, or about 1 in 129 million for a random ticket. SportPesa has paid the bigger record prize, including Kenya’s biggest-ever betting win. Odibets’ jackpots are shorter: Paybillke describes a 13-game jackpot (1,594,323 combinations) and a 7-game jackpot (2,187 combinations), with smaller prizes but much better odds of winning.
ℹ️ Verdict: SportPesa for the biggest prizes, Betika as a close second, and Odibets if you’d rather have a realistic shot at a smaller jackpot.
⚽ Odds and football markets

Source: ChampsBase, five matches, 24 August 2026. Odibets had the best or joint-best price on 10 of 15 selections, including the draw in all five matches, while Betika had the best price on the favourite in all five. It’s one sample, but it suggests Betika and Odibets price football more keenly than SportPesa.
Market depth
SportPesa: deeper European football markets than Betika, according to Paybillke, with JengaBets for building your own bets, live betting and full or partial cash out.
Betika: more comprehensive coverage of the Kenyan Premier League and lower divisions, Shikisha bet builder, cash out and around 20 sports.
Odibets: a narrower menu: ChampsBase counted 13 sports, about 150 markets per football match and 132 football events on its count day. Odibets also runs OdiLeague virtual football and OdiTV streaming on selected matches.
ℹ️ Verdict: Betika and Odibets for value; SportPesa for European depth; Betika for local leagues.

Read the conversion rules carefully. ChampsBase found that Odibets’ cashback and refunds only turn into withdrawable money after a six-selection accumulator with every leg at 2.50 or more, roughly a 244-to-1 shot. Betika’s free bets need odds of 4.99 or more and expire after 24 hours, according to The Game Haus.
ℹ️ Verdict: Odibets offers the most promotions, but with the hardest conversion rules. None of the three has a welcome offer worth choosing it for.

All three deduct the same taxes: 5% excise duty on each deposit and 5% withholding tax on each withdrawal. A KSh 1,000 deposit gives you KSh 950 to bet with, and a KSh 1,000 withdrawal lands as KSh 950. Some websites also mention a 20% withholding tax on all winnings from July 2026, but iGaming Times, which works from the statutes, lists the 20% rate only for lottery and prize competition payouts.
Odibets has one unusual rule: ChampsBase found an inactivity charge of KSh 200 a month, or 5% of the balance if that’s higher, after 365 days without activity. Don’t leave money in an account you’ve stopped using.
⚠️ Fake paybills are common. Paybillke lists 290681 and 290608 as scam variants of Odibets’ paybill. Always check the recipient name in the M-Pesa confirmation before you approve, at every bookmaker. If it’s wrong, request a reversal through Safaricom within seven days.
ℹ️ Verdict: Odibets for the lowest minimums and fast tested payouts; SportPesa for SMS withdrawals on any phone.

🔍 The three brands in depth
SPORTPESA
SportPesa: the comeback champion
8.4/10
SportPesa launched in 2014 as what it calls Kenya’s first digital betting company. Its licence was suspended in July 2019 in a tax dispute, and it returned on 30 October 2020 under Milestone Games Limited. After years of ownership battles, courts in Kenya and London have backed the current company: a 2022 Kenyan High Court judgment confirmed its right to the brand, and in January 2026 the High Court in London dismissed a former shareholder’s claims.
Today it’s the title sponsor of the SportPesa League under a 10-year deal with the Football Kenya Federation, and partners with Gor Mahia, Murang’a SEAL and Shabana FC. Its Mega Jackpot paid Kenya’s biggest-ever betting win in August 2025.
✅ Strengths
✅ GRAK/2026 licence number on its site
✅ Record jackpots
✅ SMS and USSD betting
✅ European football depth
⚠️ Weaknesses
⚠️ Highest margin of the three in testing
⚠️ No app on Google Play
⚠️ No conventional welcome bonus
BETIKA
Betika: Kenya’s most searched brand
7.9/10
Betika was founded in Nairobi in April 2016, first taking bets by SMS, and is owned by Shop and Deliver Limited, a company with Kenyan shareholders. Blask data for September 2026 gave it a 29.1% share of Kenyan betting brand searches, the largest of any operator. It was title sponsor of the National Super League from 2018 to 2021, launched what Kenyans.co.ke called Kenya’s first betting app on Google Play in 2023, and sponsored five golfers at the 2026 Magical Kenya Open.
Its open questions are regulatory: its 2026 licence numbers are referred to in a pending court application, and 254 News reported that the GRA is investigating allegations about the use of leaked Safaricom customer data. Those are allegations, not findings.
✅ Strengths
✅ Sharpest favourite prices in testing
✅ Kenyan football coverage
✅ Google Play app and Betika Lite
✅ Grand Jackpot from KSh 99
⚠️ Weaknesses
⚠️ 2026 licence in a court dispute
⚠️ Data-protection complaints and allegations
⚠️ Small promotions
ODIBETS
Odibets: sharp prices and small stakes
7.7/10
Odibets was founded in 2018 and is run by Kareco Holdings Limited from Parklands, Nairobi. It’s built for low-stake mobile betting: deposits and stakes from KSh 1, a 2.6 MB lite app, SMS and USSD routes, OdiLeague virtual football and a weekly app-rewards programme. In ChampsBase’s August 2026 test, its prices were among the best in Kenya, its M-Pesa payouts mostly arrived in under two minutes, and its phone line answered in under 15 seconds.
ChampsBase also found weaknesses: a narrow menu of 13 sports, bonus conversion rules that are very hard to meet, an inactivity charge after a year and outdated legal references in its terms. Its 2026 licence numbers are referred to in the same pending court application as Betika’s. Odibets also operates in Ghana, with a sports-only licence, and went live in Tanzania through a 2026 deal with QTech Games, which iGaming Expert said came as Odibets re-strategised “after recent judicial tensions”.
✅ Strengths
✅ Lowest margins in testing, with Betika
✅ KSh 1 minimum deposit and stake
✅ Fast tested payouts
✅ Phone, WhatsApp and Telegram support
⚠️ Weaknesses
⚠️ Narrow sports menu
⚠️ Very hard bonus conversion
⚠️ Inactivity charge after 365 days

Betika and SportPesa scores come from our individual reviews. Odibets’ scores are our assessment for this comparison, based mainly on ChampsBase’s August 2026 test and Paybillke. Overall scores are weighted, so they aren’t a simple average of the rows.
🔐 Data protection and legal record
SportPesa: Focus Gaming News reported that the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner fined SportPesa over a data breach in March 2025.
Betika: in October 2025, the commissioner ordered Betika to pay KSh 250,000 in compensation after it demanded three months of M-Pesa statements from a customer closing his account, a request the commissioner called “intrusive, unnecessary and disproportionate”.
Betika and Odibets: 2026 reporting by 254 News and iGaming Expert linked both brands to allegations about the use of leaked Safaricom subscriber data, after the High Court ruled against Safaricom on 13 May 2026. The court’s judgment was against Safaricom, not the bookmakers, and no finding has been reported against either brand.
None of these rule a brand out, but they’re a reminder to share only the documents you need to, and to use Kenya’s Data Protection Act 2019 rights if a request seems excessive.

🧪 Real-world scenarios
Scenario 1: a KSh 99 weekend jackpot ticket
SportPesa and Betika both charge KSh 99 for a 17-match ticket, with identical odds. SportPesa has the record payout history; Betika’s bonus tiers start at 12 correct, like SportPesa’s. Choose whichever jackpot is bigger that week, and set one weekly budget across both.
Scenario 2: a KSh 500 single on a Premier League draw
In ChampsBase’s test, Odibets had the best price on the draw in all five matches it compared. If you like betting draws and outsiders, Odibets is worth checking first; for favourites, Betika had the best price in all five.
Scenario 3: betting from a basic phone
SportPesa lets you bet, deposit and withdraw by SMS on 79079, or use USSD on *955#. Odibets also offers SMS and USSD routes, and Betika offers Betika Lite for low-end smartphones.
Scenario 4: you need help fast
Odibets’ phone line answered in under 15 seconds in testing, and it also offers WhatsApp and Telegram. Keep your M-Pesa transaction code ready, whichever bookmaker you contact.
🧮 Worked example: what taxes cost you
You deposit KSh 2,000, so KSh 1,900 reaches your wallet after the 5% excise. You win and withdraw KSh 3,000, so KSh 2,850 reaches M-Pesa after the 5% withholding tax. Across the round trip, KSh 250 goes in tax. The amount is the same at all three bookmakers, so fewer, planned deposits matter more than which brand you pick.
At Odibets, ChampsBase also saw how deductions affect casino wins: a KSh 200 Aviator stake cashed out at 4.7x returned KSh 940 gross and KSh 792 after deduction.
🧮 Worked example: converting promotional credit
Small promotional credits look generous until you read how they turn into cash.
Odibets: ChampsBase found that cashback and refunds convert only after a six-selection accumulator on the match result market, with every leg at odds of 2.50 or more, within 48 hours. The combined odds are at least 2.56 ≈ 244, so the slip is roughly a 244-to-1 shot before the bookmaker’s margin. Legs below 1.50 contribute nothing.
Betika: The Game Haus reports that free bets need odds of 4.99 or more and expire after 24 hours, and that only the winnings from a free bet can become withdrawable.
SportPesa: without a conventional welcome bonus, there’s nothing to convert. Aviator free-bet “rains” have their own terms on SportPesa’s site.
The lesson is the same at all three: treat promotional credit as a small extra, not as money in the bank.
📈 Market position
Betika and SportPesa are Kenya’s two biggest betting brands by public interest. Blask search data for September 2026, cited by iGaming Afrika, gave Betika a 29.1% share of Kenyan betting brand searches, with SportPesa second. Odibets is smaller but growing beyond Kenya, with operations in Ghana and, from 2026, Tanzania.
Size isn’t everything: in ChampsBase’s same-day price test, the smaller Odibets matched Betika on value and beat SportPesa. Where size clearly shows is in the jackpots, which grow with the number of players, and in sponsorship, where SportPesa and Betika are among the most visible brands in Kenyan sport.

🤝 Sponsorship and community
Kenyan bookmakers compete for trust as much as for customers, and sponsorship is a big part of that.
SportPesa holds a 10-year title sponsorship of Kenya’s top football league with the Football Kenya Federation. iGaming Afrika reports that 60% of the money goes directly to top-flight clubs and that the top three finishers share a KSh 20 million prize pool. It also sponsors the Nairobi leg of the HSBC SVNS rugby series, the Safari Rally and a national autocross series, and in September 2026 launched a National Pool Circuit with finals in Nairobi in January 2027.
Betika was title sponsor of the National Super League from 2018 to 2021, has backed AFC Leopards, Police FC and Sofapaka, runs the Betika Na Community programme, and in February 2026 gave five Kenyan golfers a combined KSh 3.2 million for the Magical Kenya Open, its third year of support. Ronaldinho was its brand ambassador from November 2018.
Odibets focuses more on its own products, such as OdiLeague and OdiTV, and on app rewards like “Zoza na Odibets App”.

🌍 Beyond Kenya
All three brands have grown outside Kenya, each under a separate local licence:
Betika lists ten African countries on Wikipedia. In Ghana, it’s on the Gaming Commission’s 2026 register for sports betting and online casino, with a 400% ACCA Bonus and USSD betting; in Uganda, it’s run by Sportive Limited, which is on the 2026 list.
SportPesa operates in Tanzania, where Nexis Global is on the Gaming Board of Tanzania’s register and SportPesa Tanzania was named Best Sports Betting Brand in Africa in October 2025.
Odibets operates in Ghana through Camabe Software Developers Ghana Limited, with a licence for online sports betting only for 2026, according to ChampsBase, and went live in Tanzania in 2026.

Set one weekly budget for all jackpots. If you buy a SportPesa and a Betika ticket, that’s KSh 198 a week, or KSh 10,296 a year.
Know the bonus tiers. Most winning tickets win bonuses for 12 to 16 correct, not the top prize.
Consider shorter jackpots. Odibets’ 7-game jackpot has 2,187 possible combinations, against 129 million for a 17-game jackpot.
Read the rules on postponed matches. Betika’s 2022 winner had one game postponed and settled by a public draw.
Ignore “prediction” sellers. No one can guarantee 17 football results.
⚖️ Betting law in Kenya in brief
The Gambling Control Act 2025 came into force on 26 August 2025. According to iGaming Times, it and its regulations require at least 30% Kenyan ownership of licensed operators, set a minimum online stake of KSh 20, require winnings to be paid within two days, ban credit cards and crypto for gambling, require KYC before an account is activated and before the first deposit, and require operators to offer deposit, loss and session limits. In August 2026, the High Court suspended the regulator’s new licence fees, then let it collect them while a challenge continues.

This Betika vs SportPesa vs Odibets comparison is based on Kenya’s 2025/26 licence register, SportPesa’s licence disclosure as recorded by Paybillke, court and business reporting by Business Daily, iGaming Expert, iGaming Times and 254 News, our own Betika and SportPesa reviews, and ChampsBase’s funded Odibets test from August 2026, which also gave us the same-day margin comparison for all three. Where sources disagreed, for example on app-store availability, Kenyan withholding tax on winnings or USSD codes, we left the detail out or explained the disagreement.

🏁 Final verdict: Betika vs SportPesa vs Odibets
SportPesa is our best overall pick: the clearest 2026 licence disclosure, Kenya’s record jackpot, SMS and USSD betting on any phone, and a ten-year sponsorship of the Kenyan top flight. Betika is the best for Kenyan football and app users, with sharp prices on favourites, a Google Play app and Betika Lite. Odibets is the best for value hunters and small stakes, with the lowest margins in testing, KSh 1 minimums, fast payouts and the most responsive support.
All three share the same caveat: Kenya’s 2026 licence register hasn’t been published, so confirm the licence with the GRA before you deposit. Then set a limit, check the paybill name every time, and keep jackpot stakes small.
