Best Betting Sites in Zambia 2026: Licensed Bookmakers, Taxes and Mobile Money Compared

Looking for the best betting sites in Zambia? Zambia’s betting market had a turbulent year. A 10% excise duty on stakes, which the Constitutional Court refused to suspend in October 2025, led Betway to pause operations and betPawa to switch off some products. Then, from 1 January 2026, a new 5% Betting Levy started applying to every deposit into and withdrawal from your betting account.

This guide compares the bookmakers that name a Zambian operating company and display a Zambian licence, explains how licensing works (Zambia publishes no public register of bookmakers), sets out what you’ll actually pay in tax and levies, and shows which sites work best with MTN MoMo, Airtel Money and Zamtel Kwacha. Every fact was checked in October and November 2026, and where sources disagree we say so.

📌 Key takeaways

  • Best overall: Betway Zambia, run by Emerald Bay Limited, with deposits from about K1–K2, Kazang vouchers, a light Android app and the Yabonse Jackpot.
  • Best for small stakes: betPawa, run by Betbio Zambia Limited, which kept sports betting and virtuals running through the 2025 tax dispute.
  • Best welcome offer with clear terms: GSB Zambia, 200% up to K2,000 in free bets with 3x wagering.
  • Licensing: the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) licenses bookmakers, but it publishes no online register, so we rely on the company names and licence numbers operators display.
  • Levy: a 5% Betting Levy applies to deposits and withdrawals at online bookmakers from 1 January 2026.
  • Other taxes: sources disagree on whether the 10% excise on stakes and the 15% tax on winnings still apply in 2026; we explain both views.
  • Age: you must be 18 or older.
⚠️ Zambia licence status, November 2026: the BCLB licenses bookmakers under the Betting Control Act, but it doesn’t publish a register of licensees, and the Act has no separate online licence class. Licence numbers in this guide are the ones operators display, as recorded by Gambling Maps (October 2026), Betting Companies Africa (September 2026) and Topbets Zambia (August 2026). Where those sources give different numbers for the same operator, we name the licensed company instead of quoting a number.

🔬 How we chose the best betting sites in Zambia

Zambia makes ranking bookmakers harder than most African markets, because there’s no public list of licensed operators to check against. So we used a stricter process:

  1. A named Zambian operator: each site must name the Zambian company behind it, such as Emerald Bay Limited for Betway or Betbio Zambia Limited for betPawa, and display a Zambian licence.
  2. Agreement between sources: we compared licence details recorded by Gambling Maps, Betting Companies Africa and Topbets Zambia. Where they agree, we quote the number; where they don’t, we name the company and flag the difference.
  3. No warning signs: we left out brands that review sites name as unlicensed, brands showing only a foreign licence such as Curaçao, and brands whose current status we couldn’t confirm.
  4. Mobile money: support for MTN MoMo, Airtel Money and Zamtel Kwacha, minimum deposits, and how withdrawals work.
  5. Fair bonuses: clear wagering terms matter more to us than the headline amount.
  6. Mobile experience: app availability on Android and iPhone, app size and how well the site works on slow connections.
  7. Responsible gambling tools: deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion, which Zambian law doesn’t require, so they vary a lot between operators.

We don’t rank bookmakers on odds for single matches, because prices change all the time. Compare odds between two licensed sites before a bigger bet.

⭐ The best betting sites in Zambia: reviews

1. Betway Zambia: the best betting site in Zambia overall

★★★★½8.9/10
🛡️ Licensed company: Emerald Bay Limited (sources quote different licence numbers)
🎁 Welcome offer: 50% of your first deposit as a free bet, up to K1,000
💳 Payments: MTN, Airtel, Kazang vouchers; deposits from K1–K2 depending on the source
📱 App: Android APK 2.5 MB from Betway’s website; iPhone app on the App Store

Why it’s our top pick

Betway is the most recognisable betting brand in Zambia, and it covers the basics well. Betting Zambia lists deposits from 2 ZMW by MTN or Airtel and from 5 ZMW with Kazang prepaid vouchers, with no deposit fees, while Topbets Zambia says mobile money deposits start at K1. Withdrawals go to mobile money (MTN or Airtel) on the phone number confirmed in your profile. Its sportsbook covers more than 20 sports with pre-match and live betting, plus a live match tracker.

🎁 Welcome offer and promotions

New customers get 50% of their first deposit as a free bet, up to K1,000. To unlock it, you complete 3x wagering at odds of 3.00 or more; Betting Zambia describes this as three times the bonus, while GhanaSoccerNet describes it as three times your deposit, so check the current terms. The maximum win from the free bet is K5,000, according to Betting Zambia. Topbets Zambia also lists a Win Boost of up to 700% on multi-bets, a Money Back Boost of up to 20x if one leg of a 6+ selection bet loses, and the Yabonse Jackpot, which costs K1 to enter and pays up to K2,500,000 for 17 correct picks.

📱 App

Betting Zambia lists Betway’s Android app at just 2.5 MB, for Android 6.0 or later, downloaded from Betway’s own website rather than Google Play. The iPhone app is on Zambia’s App Store. Both include live betting, account management and payments.

⚠️ Things to know

Betway paused its Zambian operations in October 2025 after the Constitutional Court refused to suspend the 10% excise duty on stakes, Zambia Monitor and FocusGN reported. It told customers their money was safe and withdrawable. Betway Zambia’s official X account announced its casino was back online on 10 November 2025, and it was posting winner highlights again in March 2026. Betway also ended its sponsorship of the Zambian Premier League in October 2025.

The licence numbers quoted for Betway differ between sources: Gambling Maps records CL-000007/9-2023, Betting Companies Africa gives BCLB 0000117, and Betting Zambia lists 0000967, 0000017 and 00000027. All of them name Emerald Bay Limited as the operator.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Very low minimum deposits
  • ✅ Kazang vouchers for cash users
  • ✅ 2.5 MB Android app and an iPhone app
  • ✅ K1 Yabonse Jackpot

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Paused operations during the 2025 tax dispute
  • ⚠️ Android app not on Google Play
  • ⚠️ Free bet capped at K5,000 winnings
Best for: most Zambian bettors who want a big, familiar brand with low deposits and a jackpot.

2. betPawa: the best betting site in Zambia for small stakes

★★★★½8.8/10
🛡️ Licensed company: Betbio Zambia Limited; licence CL-001083/2-2026 displayed (Gambling Maps)
🎁 Promotions: Win Bonus on accumulators; 1UP on Double Chance during AFCON 2025
💳 Payments: Airtel Money, MTN Mobile Money, Zamtel Money
📱 Extras: cash out, virtual sports, live betting

Why we rate it

betPawa is built for mobile money and small stakes. Topbets Zambia lists deposits and withdrawals by Airtel Money, MTN Mobile Money and Zamtel Money, cash out, live betting, and virtual football and basketball. It also offers casino and crash games such as Aviator and JetX, and 24/7 live chat.

🛡️ How it handled the 2025 tax dispute

betPawa was one of the operators, with Betway, that challenged the 10% excise duty in the Constitutional Court. After the court refused to suspend the tax on 3 October 2025, betPawa didn’t leave the market: it kept sports betting and virtuals live, showing the 10% stake tax on the bet slip, and paused its casino and jackpot, FocusGN reported. That continuity is a big part of why it ranks second.

🎁 Promotions

Topbets Zambia lists a Win Bonus of up to 1000% on accumulators. In December 2025, betPawa launched “1UP on Double Chance” for AFCON: an eligible Double Chance bet was settled as a win as soon as your team scored the first goal, Zambian Football reported. Topbets Zambia also notes that betPawa’s bonus terms can be hard to find, so read them carefully.

⚠️ Things to know

Topbets Zambia gives a different set of licence numbers for betPawa (Ministry of Finance 0056 and 1137, and Ministry of Tourism and Arts CL-000012/10-2023), which may reflect older licences; Gambling Maps’ October 2026 record shows CL-001083/2-2026. Gambling Maps also notes that betPawa attributes a licence to “the Lottery and Betting Control Board of Zambia”, a name that doesn’t match the BCLB.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ All three mobile money networks
  • ✅ Stayed open through the 2025 tax dispute
  • ✅ Cash out and virtuals
  • ✅ 24/7 live chat

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Bonus terms hard to find
  • ⚠️ No standard welcome offer we could confirm
  • ⚠️ Licence names vary between sources
Best for: low-stakes accumulator players who use Zamtel, Airtel or MTN.

3. GSB Zambia: the best welcome offer

★★★★½8.6/10
🛡️ Licensed company: Impala Tech Group Limited; BCLB 0001080 (Betting Companies Africa)
🎁 Welcome offer: 200% of your first deposit up to K2,000 in free bets
💳 Payments: MTN, Airtel, Zamtel; mobile money from K1 to K20,000
📱 App: Android app; sources disagree on iPhone

Why we rate it

Gal Sport Betting (GSB) has one of the clearest welcome offers in Zambia. Topbets Zambia sets out the terms: 200% of your first deposit up to K2,000, wagered three times, with at least three selections per ticket, minimum odds of 1.30 per selection and 3.00 overall, completed within 30 days. The free bet is credited automatically once you finish, and the maximum net payout from it is K10,000.

⚽ Betting and features

Betting Companies Africa counts more than 500 daily events across more than 17 sports, with live betting, cash out, an Accumulator Boost, a 13-game jackpot and Aviator tournaments. Topbets Zambia also lists a 1000% Odds Boost, a 100x “Crazy Money Back” promotion and a weekly K30,000 Aviator Rain.

💳 Payments

Mobile money deposits and withdrawals run from K1 to K20,000 with Airtel, MTN Mobile Money and Zamtel, according to Topbets Zambia.

⚠️ Things to know

Betting Companies Africa says GSB has an Android app but no iPhone app, while Topbets Zambia mentions the App Store, so iPhone users should check before relying on an app. Betting Companies Africa also found no deposit or loss limits, and its own review text cites a “Zambia State Lotteries Board” licence alongside the BCLB number in its table.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Clear, low-wagering welcome offer
  • ✅ K1 minimum mobile money deposit
  • ✅ 13-game jackpot and Accumulator Boost

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ iPhone app availability unclear
  • ⚠️ Few responsible gambling tools reported
  • ⚠️ Licence description inconsistent between sources

4. 22Bet Zambia: the widest choice of markets

★★★★8.4/10
🛡️ Licensed company: Arcadia Hospitality Limited (sources quote different licence numbers)
🎁 Welcome offer: 200% sports bonus, up to K1,600 (Topbets) or K2,000 (Betting Companies Africa)
💳 Payments: MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, Zamtel Money
📱 App: Android APK from 22Bet’s website; iPhone app on the App Store

Why we rate it

22Bet is the choice for bettors who want depth. Betting Companies Africa highlights its wide range of markets, plus virtual sports and casino, and Topbets Zambia lists soccer, cricket, basketball, rugby, tennis and boxing with live betting. Promotions include an Accumulator of the Day with an extra boost and a Friday Reload of 50% up to K2,000.

🛡️ Licence

Both sources name Arcadia Hospitality Limited as the operator, but they quote different bookmaker licence numbers: 0000848 (Betting Companies Africa) and 0001140 (Topbets Zambia, which also lists a Zambian casino licence, CL-000020/12-2023). 22Bet also displays a Curaçao licence.

⚠️ Things to know

Topbets Zambia describes 22Bet’s wagering requirements as high, without giving figures, and says some popular casino games don’t count. Betting Companies Africa didn’t find a responsible gambling page with deposit or loss limits, while Topbets Zambia lists deposit limits and self-exclusion, so check your account settings. Cards, e-wallets and crypto aren’t available to Zambian users, according to Topbets.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Huge range of markets
  • ✅ All three mobile money networks
  • ✅ iPhone app

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ High wagering on bonuses
  • ⚠️ Licence numbers differ between sources
  • ⚠️ Mobile money only
Best for: experienced bettors who want lots of markets and live betting.

5. MWOS: the best for betting shops and cash

★★★★8.2/10
🛡️ Licensed company: Moors World of Sport Company Limited; BCLB 0000965 (two sources agree)
🎁 Welcome offer: 100% up to K5,000
💳 Payments: USSD, bank transfer, cash at shops
📱 App: Android 6.0+, 60.3 MB; mobile site for iPhone

Why we rate it

MWOS (Moors World of Sport, which also trades through betting.co.zm) is the only operator in our list whose licence number, BCLB 0000965, matches across both Zambian Football and Betting Companies Africa. It’s also a good fit if you like betting shops: Zambian Football says you can deposit by USSD, bank transfer or cash in a shop using an SMS PIN, and withdraw online via USSD (with a low limit) or in store with an emailed code.

🎁 Welcome offer

New customers can get 100% up to K5,000. Zambian Football links the offer to the first deposit and says the deposit must be wagered three times on sports at odds up to 3.0 within 30 days; read the current terms on MWOS’s site before you deposit.

📱 App

The Android app is 60.3 MB and needs about 65 MB of free space and Android 6 or later. There’s no iPhone app, so iPhone users bet on the mobile site.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Licence number consistent across sources
  • ✅ Cash deposits and withdrawals in shops
  • ✅ Large welcome offer

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Heavy 60 MB app
  • ⚠️ No iPhone app
  • ⚠️ Low USSD withdrawal limit
Best for: bettors who use cash and betting shops as well as their phone.

6. Paripesa Zambia: the most payment options

★★★★8.0/10
🛡️ Licensed company: Latania Limited; CL-001095/3-2026 (Betting Companies Africa)
🎁 Welcome offer: 100% first deposit bonus; minimum deposit K20; 20x wagering (Topbets)
💳 Payments: MTN, Airtel, Zamtel, Visa/Mastercard, crypto
📱 App: Android and iOS

Why we rate it

Paripesa offers more ways to pay than any other site in our list: Topbets Zambia lists MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, Zamtel, Visa and Mastercard, and cryptocurrencies including USDT, BTC, ETH and LTC, with the account in Zambian kwacha. Betting Companies Africa highlights statistics, an odds movement chart, virtuals and eSports, and Topbets mentions bet slip sales and Powerbets.

🎁 Welcome offer

Paripesa gives 100% on your first deposit, from a K20 minimum. The maximum varies between sources and even within them: Topbets Zambia shows both K2,200 and K3,400, and Betting Companies Africa shows K3,700. Topbets lists 20x wagering on the bonus, which is much higher than GSB’s or Betway’s.

🛡️ Licence

Betting Companies Africa records licence CL-001095/3-2026, while Topbets Zambia records an older casino licence, CL-000019/12-2023, issued by the Ministry of Tourism and Arts. Both name Latania Limited as the operator.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Mobile money, cards and crypto
  • ✅ Detailed statistics and eSports
  • ✅ Apps for Android and iOS

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ 20x wagering on the welcome bonus

  • ⚠️ Limited responsible gambling tools reported
Best for: bettors who want card or crypto payments alongside mobile money.
Visit Paripesa Zambia 18+ | New customers | T&Cs apply | Gamble responsibly

🇿🇲 Other Zambian brands worth knowing

  • Bolabet: a Zambian operator, Bolabet Company Limited, displaying licence CL-001117/6-2026 according to Gambling Maps. It has invested in responsible gambling: it committed more than K150,000 over 12 months to the counselling charity GameAid Zambia (BolaNews, November 2024) and promoted responsible betting to University of Zambia students in February 2026 (FocusGN). We couldn’t confirm enough about its current bonuses, apps and payments to rank it.
  • BetLion: formerly 888bet, run by Farthing Zambia Sports Betting Limited according to Betting Companies Africa. It suspended all operations in October 2025 over the excise duty, FocusGN reported, and no source we checked published a licence number. Topbets Zambia’s August 2026 review describes it as available again, with mobile money from Airtel, MTN and Zamtel, but we couldn’t confirm its status independently.
  • Betika Zambia: listed as licensed by Betting Companies Africa (Shade Bet Limited), but with no licence number and very little detail.

🚫 Bookmakers we left out

  • 1xBet: sources conflict. Betting Companies Africa lists Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Tourism numbers in one table but names 1xBet as not licensed in Zambia in another section, and Casino Check Zambia couldn’t match it to an official record in August 2026.
  • 1Win and Cyber Bet: named as not licensed in Zambia by Betting Companies Africa.
  • Afropari, CaptainsBet, Fansport and BetAndYou: shown with a Curaçao licence only by Scores24 in November 2026. Gambling Maps notes that foreign licences aren’t recognised in Zambia.
  • Melbet, BetWinner, Megapari, 888starz and others: we couldn’t find a named Zambian operating company and a consistent licence for them.
  • SuperSportBet: listed as BCLB-licensed by Betting Companies Africa, but with no licence number or operating company.

Sports betting is legal in Zambia with a licensed bookmaker, and you must be at least 18. The legal framework is old, though, and wasn’t written for the internet:

  • Betting Control Act (Cap. 166): the main law for bookmakers, first passed in the 1950s. It’s administered by the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB), which licenses bookmakers and approves betting premises.
  • No online licence class: Gambling Maps notes that a bookmaker’s licence covers “the premises named therein”, that no Act creates a separate online licence, and that it isn’t published whether the BCLB licenses online bookmakers as such. In practice, the major online brands operate through Zambian companies that display Zambian licences.
  • Casinos: licensed by the Ministry of Tourism under the Tourism and Hospitality Act, for land-based premises. Gambling Maps classes online casino and poker as unregulated, even though several betting sites print casino licence numbers.
  • Lotteries: governed by the Lotteries Act and the State Lotteries Act.
  • Reform: Betting Companies Africa reports that Cabinet approved in principle, in June 2025, a bill to bring gambling under one law and one regulator. It wasn’t law as of its October 2026 update.
  • No public register: neither the BCLB nor any other body publishes a list of licensed bookmakers, and Gambling Maps found no published enforcement actions or website blocking powers.

Gambling Maps found no offence aimed at players who bet with unlicensed sites; the Betting Control Act targets the unlicensed bookmaker. But an unlicensed site gives you no Zambian protection if it refuses to pay, which is why we only rank operators with a named Zambian company.

💰 Betting taxes and levies in Zambia (2026)

Zambian betting taxes changed three times in a year, and not every source agrees on what applies now. Here’s what we found:

ChargeRateApplies toStatus in 2026
Betting Levy5%Every deposit into and withdrawal from your online betting accountIn force from 1 January 2026 (Betting Levy Act No. 27 of 2025)
Excise duty10%Total stakesIntroduced 8 August 2025; the Finance Minister said in December 2025 it would be abolished, but Gambling Maps found no repealing Act
Withholding tax on winnings15%WinningsDisputed: April 2026 budget documents say it’s maintained at 15%; Gambling Maps says no tax has been withheld since 1 January 2026

The 5% Betting Levy

The Betting Levy Act, assented to on 23 December 2025, imposes a 5% levy on deposits into a customer’s gaming account and on withdrawals from it. Licensed betting companies charge and collect it, file a monthly return, and pay it to the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) within ten days after each month. Deposits don’t include winnings from bets placed with money already in your account, and brick-and-mortar betting companies are exempt. Gambling Maps gives a simple example: withdrawing K200 means a K10 levy.

The 10% excise duty on stakes

The excise duty came from the Customs and Excise (Amendment) Act No. 11 of 2025, effective 8 August 2025. Betway and betPawa challenged it, but on 3 October 2025 the Constitutional Court refused to suspend it while the wider case continued. Betway and BetLion paused operations, and betPawa showed the 10% on its bet slips. Gambling Maps reports that the Finance Minister told Parliament on 3 December 2025 that the new levy replaces the excise and that the excise “will be abolished”, but no Act had repealed it and ZRA’s January 2026 tariff still listed it. A June 2026 FocusGN report on ZRA’s compliance notices also still referred to it. Check your bet slip to see whether your bookmaker deducts it.

Tax on winnings

FocusGN reported in April 2026 that the revised 2026 budget would “maintain the withholding tax rate on winnings from gaming, lotteries and betting at 15 percent”, and Betting Companies Africa also lists a 15% withholding tax. Gambling Maps, however, says no tax has been withheld from winnings since 1 January 2026. Because of this conflict, look at your bet slip or account history, which should show any deduction, or ask ZRA.

💳 Deposits and withdrawals at betting sites in Zambia

Mobile money is the standard way to pay at Zambian betting sites. iGaming Today calls MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money the dominant methods, and most operators in our list also accept Zamtel.

Tips for faster withdrawals: register with the phone number you’ll use for mobile money, complete your profile before your first withdrawal (Betway requires a confirmed number), and remember that the 5% levy applies to both deposits and withdrawals, so frequent small transfers in and out cost more than fewer, planned ones.

📝 How to sign up at betting sites in Zambia

  1. Choose a licensed bookmaker from our list and open its official Zambian site (.co.zm addresses for most).
  2. Register with your phone number. Most sites send a verification code by SMS; Paripesa, for example, asks for your name, email, password and currency, then verifies your phone.
  3. Complete your profile with your real details, so withdrawals aren’t delayed.
  4. Opt in to the welcome offer if you want it, and read the wagering terms first.
  5. Deposit with MTN, Airtel or Zamtel. Expect the 5% levy.
  6. Set a deposit limit straight away if your bookmaker offers one.

📱 Apps from the best betting sites in Zambia

Most Zambian bettors use phones, and iGaming Today reports that more than 90% of Zambia’s online users access the internet on mobile. App options vary a lot:

  • Betway: a 2.5 MB Android APK from its website (Android 6.0+), and an iPhone app on the App Store.
  • 22Bet: Android APK from its website and an App Store app.
  • MWOS: a 60.3 MB Android app; no iPhone app.
  • GSB: Android app; sources disagree about iPhone.
  • Paripesa: apps for Android and iOS.

Download Android apps only from the bookmaker’s official website. Topbets Zambia’s reviewer refused to install one operator’s APK because the download link showed an insecure connection, which is a good reminder to check the address bar before you download anything.

⚽ What Zambians bet on

Football dominates betting in Zambia, from the English Premier League and other European leagues to the Zambia Super League and the national team, the Chipolopolo. Most bookmakers in our list also cover basketball, tennis, cricket, rugby and boxing, plus virtual sports and crash games such as Aviator.

The Chipolopolo and AFCON 2027

Zambia is in Group I of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers. After two matchdays, the table read Algeria 4 points, Zambia 3, Togo 3 and Burundi 1, according to the AFCON 2027 standings published on 7 October 2026. The top two qualify for the finals in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, which run from 19 June to 17 July 2027. Matchdays 3 and 4 are from 9 to 17 November 2026, and the final two matchdays from 22 to 30 March 2027. That makes the “to qualify” market for Zambia one to watch, but bet with your head, not your heart.

Local football

Bookmakers have been closely tied to Zambian football. Betway sponsored the Zambian Premier League from 2023, but the partnership ended in October 2025 after the new excise duty, Zambia Monitor and iGaming Afrika reported. Betting Zambia notes that Betway also partnered with Green Buffaloes FC, and that at Betway some Zambian and African championships appear only in live betting, so local leagues may have fewer pre-match markets than European ones.

🎯 Popular betting markets explained

MarketWhat you’re betting on
1X2 (match result)Home win, draw or away win after 90 minutes
Double chanceTwo of the three results, such as home win or draw
Over/under goalsTotal goals above or below a line, such as 2.5

Correct scoreThe exact final score
HandicapA team given a goal start or deficit; Betting Zambia notes Betway doesn’t offer Asian handicaps
Accumulator (multi-bet)Several selections in one bet; all must win
JackpotPredict a set of matches for a fixed, low entry price
Live (in-play)Bets placed while the match is being played

🏆 Jackpots at Zambian betting sites

Jackpots are popular because they turn a tiny stake into a chance at a big prize. The two we found clear details for:

  • Betway Yabonse Jackpot: a K1 entry. Topbets Zambia lists a K200,000 prize for 12 selections, rising to K2,500,000 for 17 out of 17.
  • GSB jackpot: a 13-game jackpot, according to Betting Companies Africa.

Jackpots are very hard to win in full. Treat the entry as the price of entertainment, not an investment.

🔢 How betting odds work

Zambian bookmakers use decimal odds. Your return is your stake multiplied by the odds:

Decimal oddsImplied probabilityReturn on a K10 stake
1.50About 67%K15
2.0050%K20
3.00About 33%K30

Implied probability is 1 divided by the decimal odds. Add up the probabilities for every outcome in a market and you’ll get more than 100%; the extra is the bookmaker’s margin. Before the 5% levy and any excise or tax, that margin is already working against you, which is why comparing odds between two licensed sites matters.

🧮 Accumulators and bonuses: the maths

Bonuses such as Betway’s Win Boost, betPawa’s Win Bonus and GSB’s Accumulator Boost increase your payout on winning multi-bets, but they don’t change your chances. With each leg at odds of 2.00 (roughly a 50% chance):

LegsCombined oddsRough chance of winning
24.00About 1 in 4
416.00About 1 in 16
664.00About 1 in 64
8256.00About 1 in 256

Illustration only; real chances are lower because of the bookmaker’s margin.

🎁 Welcome bonuses at betting sites in Zambia compared

A bigger number isn’t always a better bonus. Compare the welcome offers in our list:

💡 Tips for using betting sites in Zambia

  1. Use a site with a named Zambian company. It’s your best protection in a market with no public register.
  2. Factor in the levy. 5% on deposits and withdrawals adds up if you move money in and out often.
  3. Check your bet slip for any excise or tax deduction before confirming.
  4. Keep accumulators short. Boosts don’t change the odds of winning.
  5. Read bonus terms before you opt in, especially the wagering multiple.
  6. Set a budget for the week or month and stick to it.
  7. Ignore “fixed match” and “sure odds” sellers on WhatsApp and Telegram. They’re scams.

🧘 Responsible gambling at betting sites in Zambia

Zambian law doesn’t require bookmakers to offer self-exclusion, deposit limits or reality checks, and there’s no national gambling helpline, according to Gambling Maps. That puts more of the responsibility on you. Treat betting as paid entertainment, not income, set a budget you can afford to lose, and never bet with money meant for rent, food, school fees or bursaries.

  • Lifeline Zambia: call 933 for counselling, guidance and referrals (listed by Find a Helpline for gambling support).
  • Childline Zambia: 116, for children and young people.
  • GameAid Zambia: a gambling addiction support organisation offering online, phone and in-person counselling, family support groups and peer support, according to BolaNews.
  • Students: the University of Zambia’s counselling centre, which Bolabet’s 2026 campus campaign pointed students to.
  • Account tools: Topbets Zambia lists deposit limits and break options at Betway and deposit limits and self-exclusion at 22Bet and Paripesa. Use them.

Warning signs include chasing losses, borrowing to bet, hiding betting from family, and feeling anxious when you can’t bet. If any of these sound familiar, take a break and talk to someone.

🔞 Adults only: you must be 18 or older to bet in Zambia.
