Best Betting Sites in Uganda 2026

Best Betting Sites in Uganda for October 2026

The best betting sites in Uganda right now are Betika, 22Bet and Gal Sport Betting (GSB). All three appear on the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) list of licensed operators for 2026, accept Ugandan shillings through mobile money, and cover the Uganda Premier League as well as the big European competitions.

Below you’ll find our ranking of eight licensed Ugandan bookmakers, the welcome offers we could confirm, which sites take MTN MoMo and Airtel Money, and what the new 15% tax on winnings, in force since 1 July 2026, means for your payouts. Remember: in Uganda you must be 25 or older to bet.

Advertising disclosure: AffSupreme may earn a commission when you sign up through links on this page. This never changes our ranking criteria, and we only list operators that hold a current NLGRB licence. Betting is addictive and can be psychologically harmful. Play only if you are 25 or older and bet responsibly.

📌 Key takeaways

  • Betting in Uganda is regulated by the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board under the Lotteries and Gaming Act, 2016, and the law treats anyone under 25 as a minor.
  • Every bookmaker in our top 8 appears on the NLGRB’s 2026 licence list. Licences in Uganda expire on 31 December of the year they’re issued.
  • Since 1 July 2026, operators withhold 15% of your net winnings (payout minus stake) under the Income Tax (Amendment) Act, 2026.
  • Gal Sport Betting has the largest welcome bonus we could confirm from two sources: 100% up to UGX 500,000.
  • Melbet, Betway and BetWinner are not licensed in Uganda for 2026, so we don’t recommend them.

🇺🇬 Top 8 best betting sites in Uganda (October 2026)

Our ranking puts licensing first, then the value and fairness of the welcome offer, football coverage, MTN and Airtel payments, the mobile experience and responsible gambling tools. ℹ️ Licence dates: Ugandan gaming licences run until 31 December of the year they’re issued, so every licence in this ranking is due for renewal at the end of 2026. We’ll recheck the NLGRB list when the 2027 licences are published.

🔎 Detailed reviews of the best betting sites in Uganda

Each review covers the licence, any welcome offer we could confirm, football and other markets, mobile money payments, support and who the site suits best. We focus on what matters to Ugandan bettors: MTN and Airtel deposits that land straight away, withdrawals that don’t stall, honest bonus terms and a licence you can check on the NLGRB list.

1. Betika review: the best all-round betting site in Uganda

★★★★★9.2/10
🛡️ Licence: NLGRB 2026 list, Sportive Limited (general betting and casino)
📲 Payments: MTN MoMo and Airtel Money
☎️ Support: MTN and Airtel phone lines, email, office in Ntinda
⚽ Sponsorship: UGX 100 million deal with UPL side Ntugasaze FC

Overview and licence

Betika is the biggest betting brand in Kenya and has built a solid presence in Uganda through Sportive Limited, which appears on the NLGRB’s list of licensed operators for 2026 with general betting and casino licences. One small warning: independent reviewers noticed that the licence number in Betika Uganda’s website footer is an older one, so if you want to check the licence, match the company name, Sportive Limited, against the NLGRB list rather than relying on the footer.

Betika is investing in Ugandan football too. In August 2026 it announced a UGX 100 million partnership with Ntugasaze FC, a newly promoted Uganda Premier League side, and earlier in the year it backed Buwambo United, which won the FUFA Buganda Region League title.

💰 Promotions

Betika doesn’t headline a big deposit match in Uganda, and the offer details we found differed from one source to another, so we don’t quote a figure here. That’s not a weakness for most bettors: Betika’s appeal is the everyday experience rather than a one-off sign-up reward. When you register, open the promotions page in your account and read any offer’s minimum odds, rollover and expiry before you opt in.

⚽ Markets and features

Football is at the heart of the sportsbook, with the big European leagues and local football, and Betika’s licence also covers casino games. Independent testers singled out Betika as the simplest site to navigate of the Ugandan bookmakers they reviewed, which matters if you’re placing bets on a small screen during a match.

💳 Deposits and withdrawals

You can fund your account with MTN MoMo or Airtel Money and withdraw to the same wallets. Withdrawals are capped at UGX 5,000,000 per request and UGX 10,000,000 per day, which is plenty for most players. Since 1 July 2026, Betika, like every licensed operator, withholds 15% of your net winnings before paying out.

☎️ Support

Unusually for the market, Betika offers real phone support on MTN and Airtel lines every day from 7am to midnight, plus email and a physical office in Ntinda. If a payment goes missing, being able to call someone makes a real difference.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Betting and casino licences for 2026
  • ✅ Very easy to navigate
  • ✅ Phone support every day until midnight
  • ✅ Backs Ugandan football

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Outdated licence number in the site footer
  • ⚠️ No large welcome match we could confirm
Best for: everyday football bettors who value a simple site, mobile money payments and a phone number they can actually call.

2. 22Bet review: the biggest sports and casino range

★★★★★9.0/10
🛡️ Licence: Arcadia Hospitality Limited, NLGRB-BM-26-0221 (betting) and NLGRB-CS-26-0222 (casino)
💰 Welcome bonus: 100% up to UGX 490,000 (sports)
💳 Min. deposit: UGX 500 · min. withdrawal UGX 5,000
💬 Support: 24/7 live chat in English

Overview and licence

22Bet operates in Uganda through Arcadia Hospitality Limited, which holds two 2026 NLGRB licences: online general betting (NLGRB-BM-26-0221) and online casino (NLGRB-CS-26-0222). That dual licence matters, because not every international brand in Uganda is licensed for casino as well as betting. Use the Ugandan site, 22bet.ug, so your account sits with the local licensee.

💰 Welcome bonus

At registration you choose between a sports and a casino welcome offer, with no promo code needed. The sports offer matches 100% of your first deposit up to about UGX 490,000. To unlock it, you wager the bonus five times on accumulators with at least three selections at odds of 1.40 or higher, within seven days. Accounts funded with crypto are excluded. The homepage banner and the bonus rules haven’t always matched, so read the rules on 22bet.ug before you deposit.

⚽ Markets

22Bet’s market list is one of the largest you can use in Uganda, covering the Premier League, the Champions League, table tennis, esports and much more. The casino side is just as big, with thousands of slots and hundreds of live tables. The trade-off is a busy layout that can feel crowded on a mid-range phone.

💳 Deposits and withdrawals

The cashier lists MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money, plus Visa, Mastercard, bank transfer and Bitcoin. Deposits start at UGX 500 and withdrawals at UGX 5,000. Airtel withdrawals must go to the same number you deposited from, and expect identity checks before larger withdrawals. 22Bet also requires your total bets to at least equal your deposits before you can withdraw, so you can’t deposit and immediately cash out.

📱 App and support

iPhone users can download the 22Bet Uganda app from the App Store, and Android users get the app from 22bet.ug, though the mobile site is the main way most people bet. Support runs 24/7 on English live chat.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Licensed for both betting and casino
  • ✅ 100% sports bonus up to UGX 490,000
  • ✅ Deposits from UGX 500
  • ✅ 24/7 live chat

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Busy layout on smaller phones
  • ⚠️ Must bet at least your deposit before withdrawing
Best for: bettors who want a huge choice of sports and a fully licensed casino in one account.

3. Gal Sport Betting review: the best welcome bonus

★★★★½8.8/10
🛡️ Licence: NLGRB-BM-26-0245 (betting), NLGRB-CS-26-0170 (casino), NLGRB-SL-26-0173
💰 Welcome bonus: 100% up to UGX 500,000
📲 Payments: MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, shop deposits
☎️ Support: toll-free 0800 334 455, live chat, email

Overview and licence

Gal Sport Betting, better known as GSB, is one of the most familiar betting names in Uganda, with an online sportsbook and physical shops. It holds three 2026 NLGRB licences, including general betting (NLGRB-BM-26-0245) and casino (NLGRB-CS-26-0170). The app feels local and familiar, which is a big part of its appeal.

💰 Welcome bonus

GSB offers new customers a 100% first-deposit bonus up to UGX 500,000, the largest flat welcome match we could confirm from more than one source this month. A UGX 100,000 deposit would earn UGX 100,000 in bonus funds. The bonus has to be rolled over three times at total odds of 3.0 before you can withdraw winnings from it, so it suits bettors who already play accumulators.

⚽ Markets and features

GSB covers the main football leagues and other popular sports, and Aviator is usually available too. You can bet online, through the app, in GSB shops or by USSD, which helps if your data runs out or you’re using a basic phone.

💳 Deposits and withdrawals

Deposits and withdrawals run mainly through MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money, and you can also deposit in GSB shops. GSB’s own terms allow up to 72 hours for mobile money withdrawals, and independent testers found payouts noticeably slower than the app itself; one test withdrawal stalled over a weekend until live chat stepped in. Use one phone number consistently for your account and payments, because mismatched numbers are a common cause of login and payout problems.

☎️ Support

GSB has a toll-free line, 0800 334 455, plus live chat and email. Testers found live chat genuinely helpful in pushing a delayed payout through.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ 100% welcome bonus up to UGX 500,000
  • ✅ Online, app, USSD and shops
  • ✅ Toll-free support line

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Withdrawals can take up to 72 hours
  • ⚠️ 3x rollover at total odds of 3.0
Best for: new customers who want the biggest confirmed deposit match and like having a local shop nearby.

4. betPawa review: light, low-stake betting

★★★★½8.6/10
🛡️ Licence: Chop Gaming Limited, NLGRB-BM-26-0181 and NLGRB-CS-26-0182
🧮 Standout: Win Bonus on accumulators
📲 Payments: MTN and Airtel; USSD betting
💬 Support: Telegram, Facebook Messenger, X

Overview and licence

betPawa operates in Uganda through Chop Gaming Limited, which holds 2026 NLGRB licences for general betting (NLGRB-BM-26-0181) and casino (NLGRB-CS-26-0182). The brand is built around low stakes and low data use, and it has put money into Ugandan football: through a deal with FUFA, betPawa pays cash bonuses to players on winning teams in second-tier league matches.

🧮 Promotions

betPawa doesn’t run a traditional welcome bonus. Instead, its Win Bonus adds a percentage to your winnings when a qualifying accumulator wins, and the percentage grows as you add selections. It’s paid automatically. Just remember that every extra selection makes a slip much harder to win, so don’t build longer accumulators only to chase a bigger boost.

⚽ Markets

The sportsbook is deliberately stripped down, focusing on the main football leagues and popular sports, with casino games under its casino licence. That keeps pages fast on cheap phones and slow connections.

💳 Deposits and withdrawals

You can deposit with MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money, and MTN users can pay through USSD using the merchant code BETPAWA. Note that MTN adds a UGX 110 fee on deposits under UGX 2,000. Betting also works over USSD without the app, which is handy when data is scarce.

💬 Support

betPawa’s support runs through Telegram, Facebook Messenger and X rather than phone or email. That works for quick questions but is less reassuring if you have a payment dispute.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Betting and casino licences for 2026
  • ✅ Win Bonus paid automatically
  • ✅ Works over USSD without data

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ No welcome bonus
  • ⚠️ No phone or email support
  • ⚠️ Small MTN fee on deposits under UGX 2,000
Best for: small-stake accumulator fans who bet on basic phones or with limited data.

5. 1xBet review: the deepest market list

★★★★☆8.4/10
🛡️ Licence: Advanced Gaming Limited, NLGRB-BM-26-0206 (online betting)
💰 Welcome bonus: first-deposit sports bonus
💳 Min. deposit: UGX 1,000 · min. withdrawal UGX 5,000
📲 Payments: MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, crypto

Overview and licence

1xBet has had a bumpy history in Uganda. In February 2024 its local company, Advanced Gaming Limited, told the NLGRB it was closing its Ugandan operations, and players were told to withdraw their funds. The brand later returned to the official list, and for 2026 it holds a general betting licence for online operations, NLGRB-BM-26-0206. Note that this licence covers betting: we couldn’t find a separate 2026 online casino licence for 1xBet in Uganda.

💰 Welcome bonus

New customers can claim a first-deposit sports bonus on 1xbet.ug, wagered on accumulators of three or more selections at minimum odds per leg within 30 days. We found different percentages and maximum amounts quoted for Uganda this year, so we don’t print a figure. Check the exact match and cap in your account before your first deposit.

⚽ Markets

Market depth is 1xBet’s calling card. Independent testers counted more than 6,000 events on a single day, including more than a thousand football events. If you like lower leagues, table tennis or unusual special markets, no other site in our ranking offers as much.

💳 Deposits and withdrawals

The cashier lists Airtel Money and MTN Mobile Money, along with bank transfer, cards and several cryptocurrencies. Deposits start at UGX 1,000 and withdrawals at UGX 5,000, and withdrawals must go to the same number you deposited from.

📱 App and support

A native Android app is available for Uganda, and the mobile site works well too. Support is weaker than at local brands: testers found email to be the main channel, with no phone line or live chat on the Ugandan layout.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Widest market range in our list
  • ✅ 2026 online betting licence
  • ✅ MTN, Airtel and crypto

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ No 2026 online casino licence found
  • ⚠️ Email-only support
  • ⚠️ Bonus terms vary between sources
Best for: experienced bettors who want the biggest choice of markets and don’t need phone support.

6. Bangbet review: high limits and responsive support

★★★★☆8.2/10
🛡️ Licence: Everwin Golden Silk Uganda Co. Limited, NLGRB-BM-26-0250 and NLGRB-CS-26-0251
📲 Payments: mobile money via the Yo! gateway
💸 Limits: up to UGX 5,000,000 per transfer, UGX 20,000,000 per day
💬 Support: live chat, WhatsApp, MTN and Airtel phone lines

Overview and licence

Bangbet operates in Uganda through Everwin Golden Silk Uganda Co. Limited, which holds 2026 NLGRB licences for general betting (NLGRB-BM-26-0250) and casino (NLGRB-CS-26-0251). It’s an international brand with a quick, simple betting flow.

🎁 Promotions

New customers receive a small free-bet reward at sign-up. When we researched this article, the offer was shown mainly as graphics without full written wagering terms, so read the terms carefully in the app before you rely on it.

⚽ Markets and app

Bangbet covers the main football leagues and other popular sports, plus casino games under its 2026 casino licence. Placing a bet is quick, though independent testers noticed the sports tab occasionally hanging on a loading screen.

💳 Deposits and withdrawals

Payments go through the Yo! mobile money gateway, with transfers capped at UGX 5,000,000 each and UGX 20,000,000 per day, among the highest limits in our ranking. In independent testing, a small withdrawal reached an MTN wallet within minutes, the fastest of the brands tested.

💬 Support

Bangbet offers live chat, WhatsApp and phone lines on both MTN and Airtel, a better mix than several bigger brands.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Betting and casino licences for 2026
  • ✅ High daily withdrawal limits
  • ✅ Live chat, WhatsApp and phone

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Welcome offer terms are vague
  • ⚠️ Occasional loading issues in the sports tab
Best for: bettors who want fast mobile money payouts, high limits and several ways to reach support.

7. Fortebet review: online betting plus shops

★★★★☆8.0/10
🛡️ Licence: Massalia Limited, on the NLGRB 2026 list
🏪 Channels: online and land-based betting
📲 Payments: MTN MoMo and Airtel Money
🎰 Products: sports betting and casino games

Overview and licence

Fortebet is one of Uganda’s best-known betting names, run by Massalia Limited, which appears on the NLGRB’s 2026 list of licensed operators. In 2025 the company held a general betting licence covering both online and land-based betting, plus a betting machine licence for its shops. That mix of online betting and physical outlets is what sets Fortebet apart.

🎁 Promotions

We couldn’t confirm Fortebet’s current welcome offer from a reliable source, so we don’t quote one. Fortebet competes more on brand familiarity and convenience than on a headline bonus. If an offer is shown when you register, read the minimum odds and rollover before you opt in.

⚽ Sports and casino

The sportsbook is football-led with a spread of other sports, and Fortebet also offers casino games such as slots and table games.

💳 Payments

You can deposit and withdraw with MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money, and Fortebet’s shops give you a cash option if you prefer betting in person.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Well-known local brand
  • ✅ Online and shop betting
  • ✅ MTN and Airtel

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ No welcome offer we could confirm
  • ⚠️ Few published online details
Best for: bettors who like to mix online betting with a visit to a local betting shop.

8. Bongo Bongo review: best for slots fans

★★★★☆7.8/10
🛡️ Licence: Quick Venture Limited, NLGRB-BM-26-0208 and NLGRB-CS-26-0207
🎰 Welcome offer: free spins (casino only)
📲 Payments: MTN Mobile Money
☎️ Support: phone, Telegram, email · 8am to midnight

Overview and licence

Bongo Bongo is a Ugandan sportsbook and casino operated by Quick Venture Limited, which holds 2026 NLGRB licences for betting (NLGRB-BM-26-0208) and casino (NLGRB-CS-26-0207). As with Betika, the licence number in the site footer has been reported as out of date, so check the company name on the NLGRB list.

🎰 Welcome offer

Bongo Bongo’s welcome offer is a batch of free spins for the casino, not a sports bonus. Independent reviewers reported a very short window to wager the qualifying deposit, so it suits slots players who’ll use it straight away rather than football bettors.

💳 Payments and support

MTN Mobile Money works for deposits and withdrawals, and testers reported no operator fee on withdrawals. Minimum deposit figures differ across Bongo Bongo’s own help pages, so check the cashier before you pay. Support is available by phone, Telegram and email from 8am to midnight.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Betting and casino licences for 2026
  • ✅ Long support hours
  • ✅ No operator fee on withdrawals

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Welcome offer is casino only
  • ⚠️ Conflicting minimum deposit information
Best for: slots players who also place the occasional sports bet.

🧪 How we rank betting sites in Uganda

A good ranking starts with the dull but essential question: is the operator allowed to take bets from Ugandans? Only after that do bonuses and features matter. Here’s how we weigh each factor when we build this list of the best betting sites in Uganda.

  • 30%
🛡️ Licence and safety. We check each operating company against the NLGRB’s list of licensed operators for the current year and against regulator notices about withdrawn licences and illegal sites. A brand without a current Ugandan licence doesn’t make the list, however big its bonus.
  • 20%
💰 Bonus value and fairness. We only quote offers we could confirm from more than one reliable source, and we look at how the reward is paid and how hard the rollover is.
  • 20%
⚽ Markets. Football depth comes first, then other sports, live betting and the casino side where it’s licensed.
  • 15%
💳 Payments. MTN MoMo and Airtel Money for deposits and withdrawals, sensible minimums, limits and payout reliability.
  • 10%
📱 Mobile experience. Apps, USSD access and how well the site works on mid-range phones and slower connections.
  • 5%
🧘 Responsible gambling. Age checks, deposit and time limits, self-exclusion and reachable support.
ℹ️ Our scores are editorial judgements based on these criteria and on publicly available information, including independent tests published by other reviewers. We haven’t run our own deposit or withdrawal tests for this update.

Yes. Sports betting and online casino games are legal in Uganda when you use an operator licensed by the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board, but only if you are 25 or older. Here’s what you need to know in 2026.

The Lotteries and Gaming Act and the NLGRB

The Lotteries and Gaming Act, 2016 created the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board as the single regulator for betting, gaming and lotteries, both land-based and online. Licences expire on 31 December of the year they’re issued, and operators must apply to renew at least two months before expiry. For 2026, renewal applications opened on 3 October 2025 through the NLGRB’s e-licensing platform, and renewing operators had to provide tax clearance certificates and certification of their data systems.

The 2026 licence list

The NLGRB publishes its list of licensed operators on its website. The 2026 list names companies such as Sportive Limited (Betika), Arcadia Hospitality Limited (22Bet), Chop Gaming Limited (betPawa), Advanced Gaming Limited (1xBet), Everwin Golden Silk Uganda (Bangbet) and Massalia Limited (Fortebet). Licence numbers in the BM series cover general betting, while CS numbers cover casino operations.

Uganda has one of the highest gambling ages anywhere: the Lotteries and Gaming Act defines a minor as anyone below 25, and licensed operators may not take bets from minors. The NLGRB’s own figures show why it matters. Its licensing and responsible gaming manager said earlier in 2026 that 58% of gamblers in Uganda are below 25.

Advertising and player protection

Betting adverts need the NLGRB’s prior approval and must carry the warning “Betting is addictive and can be psychologically harmful”. The Responsible Gaming Directives, 2025 require licensed operators to offer deposit, loss and session limits, to connect to a national self-exclusion register and to stop offering credit or inducements to gamble.

⚠️ The NLGRB says it has blocked 57 websites run by illegal online gaming companies, working with the Uganda Communications Commission. Its chief executive has also told Parliament that the current maximum fine for illegal gaming is too low to deter offenders. Unlicensed sites can refuse to pay and leave you with no one to complain to, so always check the licence first.

🧾 Betting tax in Uganda 2026

Uganda’s betting taxes changed on 1 July 2026, and older guides are now out of date.

✂️

15% on your net winnings

Under the Income Tax (Amendment) Act, 2026, the operator withholds 15% of your winnings before paying you. Winnings are defined as the payout minus your stake, so you’re taxed on your profit, not the whole payout. The law took effect on 1 July 2026, and President Museveni assented to it on 20 August 2026. National lottery winnings are excluded.

🧮

A quick example

You stake UGX 10,000 and your slip pays UGX 60,000. Your winnings are UGX 50,000, so UGX 7,500 (15%) is withheld and UGX 52,500 reaches your wallet.

🏢

30% tax on operators

The Lotteries and Gaming (Amendment) Act, 2026 sets a single 30% tax rate for betting and gaming operators, calculated on stakes minus payouts. Betting was previously taxed at 20%.

📈

Why it matters

Higher operator taxes can mean tighter odds and smaller promotions, so comparing licensed bookmakers before a big match is worth the extra minute.

🎁 Betting bonuses in Uganda explained

Uganda’s Responsible Gaming Directives ban inducements to gamble, so you won’t see the huge sign-up packages common elsewhere. These are the bonus types you’ll meet at the best betting sites in Uganda, with real examples from our ranking.

💰

Deposit match bonus

The bookmaker adds bonus funds based on your first deposit. GSB matches 100% up to UGX 500,000 with a 3x rollover at total odds of 3.0, and 22Bet matches 100% up to UGX 490,000 with 5x wagering on accumulators.

🧮

Accumulator boosts

betPawa’s Win Bonus adds a percentage to winning accumulators, growing with the number of selections, and it’s credited automatically.

🎟️

Free bets

Bangbet gives new customers a small free-bet reward. With most free bets you keep the winnings but not the stake.

🎰

Free spins

Bongo Bongo’s welcome offer is a set of casino free spins, useful only if you play slots.

ℹ️ Wagering in plain words: with 22Bet’s offer, a UGX 50,000 deposit earns a UGX 50,000 bonus. Wagering it five times means placing UGX 250,000 in qualifying accumulators (three or more selections at odds of 1.40 or higher) within seven days before bonus winnings can be withdrawn. Remember the 15% tax also applies to your net winnings.

📝 How to register safely at a Ugandan betting site

Signing up at the best betting sites in Uganda takes a few minutes. Follow these steps to stay safe and get any welcome offer credited.

  1. Check the licence. Pick a site from our list and confirm the operating company on the NLGRB list of licensed operators.
  2. Create your account. Register with your Ugandan phone number and confirm the code. You must be 25 or older.
  3. Choose your welcome offer. Some sites, such as 22Bet, ask you to pick a sports or casino offer at registration, and the choice can’t be swapped later.
  4. Set your limits. Licensed operators must let you set deposit, loss and session limits. Do it before your first deposit.
  5. Deposit with mobile money. Use MTN MoMo or Airtel Money registered in your own name, on the same number as your account.
  6. Read the rollover. Track your wagering progress and stick to the minimum odds and deadline in the bonus terms.

💡 Expert betting tips and common mistakes

✅ Do this

  • Check the operator on the NLGRB list before you deposit.
  • Factor in the 15% tax on net winnings.
  • Use one phone number for your account and payments.
  • Read the minimum odds and rollover before claiming a bonus.
  • Set a weekly budget and deposit limits.

❌ Avoid this

  • Betting if you’re under 25; it’s against the law.
  • Using sites that left Uganda or lost their licence.
  • Chasing losses with longer accumulators.
  • Borrowing money or using mobile loans to bet.
  • Trusting “sure win” tipsters or Aviator predictor apps.

🧘 Responsible gambling in Uganda

Betting is addictive and can be psychologically harmful. Bet only what you can afford to lose and never treat betting as income. As the NLGRB’s chief executive put it during Africa Safer Gambling Week in September 2026: “Bet for fun, not for fortune.”

Warning signs

  • Thinking about betting all the time or planning the next slip.
  • Chasing losses or borrowing money to bet.
  • Hiding betting from family or lying about how much you spend.
  • Betting to escape stress or bad feelings.
  • Missing work, school or family commitments because of betting.

Tools that help

Since the 2025 Responsible Gaming Directives, every licensed operator must offer deposit, loss and time limits and self-exclusion, and the NLGRB keeps a national self-exclusion register. Self-exclusion can last from a week to a month, and some players choose to exclude themselves permanently. More than 2,000 Ugandans had used self-exclusion tools by July 2026.

Where to get support

Contact the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board on its toll-free line, 0800 285 800, or on +256 326 333 020, for help with self-exclusion or a complaint about a licensed operator. The Board says it plans to expand counselling and treatment referrals for people affected by gambling harm under its 2025/26–2029/30 strategic plan.

🔞 25+ only. Never let anyone under 25 use your betting account or mobile money line.

🚫 Brands we left out of this ranking

Some well-known names don’t appear above. Here’s why.

  • Melbet: the NLGRB announced that Fox Bet Limited (Melbet) was no longer authorised to operate in Uganda from 1 January 2026.
  • Betway: left Uganda in early 2022 and isn’t on the 2025 or 2026 licence lists.
  • BetWinner: not found on the NLGRB’s 2026 list; it relies on an offshore licence.
  • Kiwi Bet: its operator closed Ugandan operations in mid-2025.
  • SportyBet and MSport: we couldn’t confirm either brand on the NLGRB’s 2025 or 2026 lists, so we left them out until we can.
  • Premier Bet: its 2026 listing we found covers land-based betting, and we couldn’t confirm a 2026 online licence.

🏁 Final verdict: the best betting sites in Uganda

Uganda’s betting market is tightly regulated, and that’s good news for players who stick to licensed sites. The NLGRB renews every licence each year, the 2025 Responsible Gaming Directives make deposit limits and self-exclusion mandatory, and illegal sites are being blocked. Two rules matter more here than anywhere else in Africa: you must be 25 or older, and since 1 July 2026, 15% of your net winnings is withheld at payout.

For most bettors, Betika is the best betting site in Uganda: licensed for betting and casino, simple to use, with MTN and Airtel payments and phone support until midnight. If you want the biggest confirmed welcome bonus, choose GSB, while 22Bet is the pick for a huge sportsbook and a licensed casino in one account. betPawa suits small stakes and USSD betting.

Whichever site you choose, check the licence, use one phone number for your account and payments, and set your limits before your first bet.
