SportyBet Review 2026: Nigeria, Ghana & Kenya Compared

Our SportyBet review for October 2026 looks at one of Africa’s most popular betting brands in its three biggest English-speaking markets. SportyBet belongs to Sporty Group, a London-headquartered sports and entertainment technology company, and runs a separate licensed website in each country: Nigeria (Lagos licence), Ghana (Gaming Commission of Ghana) and Kenya (Gambling Regulatory Authority, formerly the BCLB).

The product is the same at heart everywhere: deep football coverage, a fast mobile app, a Multi Bet Bonus of up to 1,000%, cash out and low minimum stakes. What changes from country to country is the licence, the payment methods, the tax and whether there’s a welcome offer. Below we take each market in turn, with every fact checked against a source.

📌 SportyBet at a glance

  • Nigeria: run by Marawin Limited and listed on the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority register for online sports betting and online casino from 5 January 2026 to 4 January 2027. No welcome bonus, according to SportyBet’s own support.
  • Ghana: listed on the Gaming Commission of Ghana register for sports betting and online casino, like every licence there, for 1 January to 31 December 2026. No tax on players’ winnings.
  • Kenya: run by Dreamhub Technology Limited, listed on the 2025/26 register with BK 0001203 (sportsbook) and PG 0001202 (casino). SportyBet returned to Kenya in 2025 after leaving in 2022. Kenya’s 2026 register hasn’t been published yet.
  • Same core features everywhere: Multi Bet Bonus up to 1,000%, full, partial and automatic cash out, Flexi Bet, virtuals, Aviator and an in-house crash game, Sporty Jet.
  • Very fast mobile wallet payouts in testing: OPay withdrawals in Nigeria arrived in under a minute.

⭐ Our verdict: 8.3/10

SportyBet is one of the best sportsbooks in Africa for football fans who bet from their phones. It offers huge football coverage, sharp prices on top matches, a well-rated app, low minimum stakes and fast mobile wallet payouts. It loses points for the lack of a welcome bonus in Nigeria and Ghana, deposit limits that you have to request through support, a casino with no published RTPs and an unsettled licence picture in Kenya, where the regulator hasn’t yet published its 2026 register.

🏢 Who owns SportyBet?

SportyBet is the betting brand of Sporty Group, which describes itself as a global sports and entertainment technology company. SBC News reports that the group is headquartered in London and focuses heavily on Africa, with growing interests in South America, where it bought the Brazilian football channel Nosso Futebol in 2025. SBC also notes a regional partnership for Africa between SportyBet and Manchester City, signed in 2023.

Sporty Group has expanded well beyond betting in Africa:

  • SportyTV: in June 2026, it secured free-to-air rights to 34 of the 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya, including the opening match and the final, according to Inside World Football.
  • SportyFM: Ghana’s first 24-hour sports radio station, which won “Emerging Brand of the Year” at the 2025 Ghana Business Awards, Modern Ghana reported.

Each country’s SportyBet site is run by a locally licensed company, which is the entity you deal with as a customer. That’s why the licence, terms, payment methods and support numbers differ by country.

🛡️ SportyBet licences in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya

🇳🇬 Nigeria: Lagos licence

Since the Supreme Court ruled on 22 November 2024 that gambling is a matter for the states, the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority has become Nigeria’s leading regulator. Its register lists Marawin Limited, trading as SportyBet, under Online Sports Betting/Online Casino, with a licence period from 5 January 2026 to 4 January 2027. ChampsBase confirmed the same entry in October 2026.

SportyBet’s footer also cites a national licence number, 0001014, from the National Lottery Regulatory Commission. ChampsBase couldn’t confirm it because the commission’s portal timed out, and since the 2024 judgment, the National Lottery Act applies only in the Federal Capital Territory. The Lagos licence is the one that matters most for players.

⚠️ The Lagos licence runs to 4 January 2027. Check the LSLGA register for the renewal if you’re reading this after that date.

🇬🇭 Ghana: Gaming Commission of Ghana

In Ghana, betting is regulated by the Gaming Commission of Ghana under the Gaming Act 2006 (Act 721). When we checked the commission’s register in October 2026, SportyBet was listed with a sports betting and online casino licence. As with every operator on the register, the licence was issued on 1 January 2026 and expires on 31 December 2026, because Ghanaian licences are renewed every year. The register doesn’t publish licence numbers.

🇰🇪 Kenya: a licence in transition

SportyBet Kenya is run by Dreamhub Technology Limited. On the 2025/26 register, the most recent published list, it holds bookmaker licence BK 0001203 and public gaming licence PG 0001202, which ChampsBase confirmed. SportyBet’s own Kenyan footer still names the Betting Control and Licensing Board, which the Gambling Regulatory Authority replaced under the Gambling Control Act 2025.

Kenya’s whole industry is in a licensing transition. According to iGaming Times, the authority’s notice said licences issued under the old regime remained valid until 24 September 2026, and as of 14 October 2026 it hadn’t published a register of licences granted under the new 2026 rules. A court challenge over the new licence fees was also still pending. We found no published 2026 licence number for SportyBet Kenya.

⚠️ Kenyan players: before you deposit, check gra.go.ke or call the GRA on 0800 723 770 to confirm SportyBet’s current licence. This applies to every Kenyan bookmaker until the 2026 register is published.

SportyBet’s exit from Kenya and return

SportyBet left Kenya in 2022 during a period of tax and licensing disputes that pushed several operators out of the market, according to Shore Africa. It relaunched in 2025: Shore Africa reported the return in August 2025, and iGaming Today wrote in October 2025 that the brand now operates under Dreamhub Technology Limited and had resolved its earlier tax disputes with the Kenya Revenue Authority. SportyBet Kenya’s chief executive, Samwel Muchai, presented cash out as the centrepiece of the relaunch, describing it as a tool to empower players.

🎁 SportyBet welcome bonus by country

Welcome offers are where SportyBet’s markets differ most, and where you’ll find the most misleading information online.

🇳🇬 Nigeria: no welcome bonus

ChampsBase checked SportyBet Nigeria in August 2026 and found no welcome bonus. Two audits found no new-customer offer, and a support agent confirmed by phone on 25 August 2026 that there was none. Other websites advertise a “150% welcome bonus up to ₦100,000”, but ChampsBase couldn’t find it on any SportyBet page, and support said SportyBet isn’t affiliated with those pages. Ratingbet also found no welcome bonus in May 2026.

SportyBet Nigeria does have a referral scheme, but ChampsBase notes that the ₦500 reward goes to the existing customer who refers you, not to the new player.

🇬🇭 Ghana: no confirmed welcome bonus

Ghana is similar. Ghanaian reviewers describe SportyBet’s value as coming from its Multiple Bet Bonus rather than a sign-up offer. One site still advertises a 150% welcome bonus while another reports it was removed, so we can’t confirm a current offer. Check the Promotions page after you register.

🇰🇪 Kenya: First Deposit Gift

Kenya is the one market where we found a new-customer offer described in detail. Football Whispers reported in June 2026 a First Deposit Gift of up to 300%, capped at KES 1,500:

First depositGift
KES 100KES 300
KES 200KES 600
KES 300KES 900
KES 500KES 1,500

Football Whispers says the gift must be wagered 14 times, and that the KES 100 tier expires after six days. Other Kenyan guides describe SportyBet’s welcome offers in general terms that change from time to time, so open the Promotions page in your account and read the current terms before you deposit.

ℹ️ A SportyBet “gift” is bonus credit, not cash. ChampsBase notes that gifts can’t be withdrawn as cash, and only winnings that meet the gift’s terms convert into withdrawable money.

🔁 SportyBet promotions for existing customers

SportyBet’s real value is in its everyday promotions. ChampsBase counted 14 promotions running on SportyBet Nigeria at the end of August 2026. These are the main ones reviewers confirmed:

🚀

Multi Bet Bonus up to 1,000%

An automatic boost on multiples of two or more selections, each at odds of at least 1.20, rising with the number of legs towards a maximum of 1,000%. It’s available in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya.

2️⃣

2UP early settlement

An early-settlement feature on selected football competitions. ChampsBase reported it running in Nigeria to the end of December 2026; check the eligible matches and rules in the app.

🎁

Pragmatic Play Drops & Wins

Prize drops and tournaments on selected casino games. ChampsBase reports that it runs to March 2027 and needs an opt-in.

⚡

Live Odds Boost

Boosted prices on selected live single bets, marked with an icon on eligible markets.

👥

Refer a friend

In Nigeria, an existing customer receives ₦500 credit when a friend they refer joins.

🏆

Weekly jackpot

A jackpot in which you predict the results of a set of matches, with prizes for near-misses, according to The Game Haus.

Promotions change often, and some end without much notice: ChampsBase reported that a casino cashback offer ended on 31 August 2026. Always read the current terms.

⚽ SportyBet sportsbook and odds

Football is SportyBet’s great strength. ChampsBase called it the deepest football catalogue it found in Nigeria. On one test day, it counted 256 top competitions and 177 in-play events, including 89 competitions from England, 91 from Argentina, 60 from Germany and 52 from Italy.

What ChampsBase measuredResult

Bet types and tools

  • Bet types: singles, multiples, system bets, Flexi Bet, One Cut, AnyWin and Bet Builder.
  • Flexi Bet: lets a multiple still pay out if some selections lose, at a reduced return that you see before you place the bet.
  • Cash out: full, partial and automatic, and ChampsBase found that cash-outs carry no cost.
  • Live betting: a large in-play menu on football, plus other sports.
  • Odds format: decimal only.

One thing to watch in live markets: ChampsBase saw a price drop from 1.77 to 1.75 within about 12 seconds while the selection sat in its betslip. Check the odds before you confirm.

Other sports

Beyond football, SportyBet covers basketball, tennis and other sports, with eSports and virtual sports available around the clock. Kenyan comparison site Paybillke rated SportyBet’s eSports markets as the strongest of the three big Kenyan brands it compared.

🎰 SportyBet casino, Aviator and virtuals

SportyBet’s casino is a secondary product. In Nigeria, the Lagos licence covers online casino, and in Ghana the commission’s register lists SportyBet for online casino as well as sports betting. ChampsBase counted more than 200 games, with Pragmatic Play and Spribe among the providers.

  • Aviator: loaded in 1.8 seconds in ChampsBase’s test, and payouts were credited correctly, although the animation froze for about two seconds in one round.
  • Sporty Jet: SportyBet’s own crash game, which ran without problems in testing.
  • Slots: popular titles such as Gates of Olympus loaded in about two seconds.
  • Virtual sports: instant virtual football and other virtual games, available 24/7.
⚠️ ChampsBase found no published RTP or house edge for any SportyBet casino game. In Nigeria, it also reported that casino winnings were taxed at 20%, against 5% for sports. Treat casino games as entertainment with a set budget.

💳 SportyBet deposits and withdrawals by country

SportyBet is built around each country’s favourite way to pay: bank transfers and wallets in Nigeria, mobile money in Ghana and M-Pesa in Kenya.

🇳🇬 Nigeria

Deposits start at ₦100, with a maximum of ₦9,999,999 per transaction. ChampsBase tested OPay, GTBank USSD and bank transfer, and lists cards, PalmPay, Kuda, Moniepoint, Quickteller, Sporty Bank and Wema Bank as other options. Bank transfer accounts generated for a deposit expire after 30 minutes.

ChampsBase deposit testAmountTime to credit
OPay wallet₦10,00014 seconds
GTBank USSD₦5,00038 seconds
OPay wallet₦5,00051 seconds
Bank transfer₦5,0003 min 22 sec (second attempt)
Bank transfer₦5,0004 min 43 sec

Withdrawals in Nigeria range from ₦1 to ₦9,999,999, with 53 Nigerian banks listed, and ChampsBase paid no fee on any of its six payouts:

ChampsBase withdrawal testAmountTime
GTBank transfer (first of session)₦5,00022 min 11 sec
OPay wallet₦3,00043 sec
GTBank transfer₦4,0001 min 12 sec
GTBank transfer (first of session)₦5,00038 min 11 sec
OPay wallet₦5,00047 sec
GTBank transfer₦4,0001 min 5 sec

The pattern was clear: the first bank withdrawal of a session was slow, while later ones and OPay payouts arrived within about a minute. During the delays, the screen only showed “Pending”, without an estimate. Your first deposit fixes your account name, and payouts can only go to an account in that name.

🇬🇭 Ghana

In Ghana, SportyBet works with MTN Mobile Money, Telecel Cash and AirtelTigo Money, as well as bank cards, according to Ghanaian reviewers. The minimum deposit is GHS 1, and withdrawals go back to your mobile money wallet or a local account. Use a wallet registered in your own name, matching the name on your SportyBet account and your Ghana Card.

🇰🇪 Kenya

In Kenya, you deposit through M-Pesa using paybill 590555, with your SportyBet-registered phone number as the account number:

  1. Open M-Pesa. Use the M-Pesa app or dial *334#.
  2. Choose Lipa na M-Pesa, then Pay Bill.
  3. Enter business number 590555.
  4. Enter your registered phone number as the account.
  5. Enter the amount and your M-Pesa PIN. An SMS confirms the payment.

Paybillke reports that deposits usually arrive within 30 seconds and that withdrawals to M-Pesa take under 10 minutes for verified accounts. Unverified accounts are limited to KES 5,000 a day until ID and selfie verification is complete. Keep your M-Pesa confirmation code as proof of payment. M-Pesa’s own transaction fees are set by Safaricom, not by SportyBet.

ℹ️ Kenyan law bans credit cards and cryptocurrency for betting, so M-Pesa and other local mobile methods are the way to pay.

🪪 Registration and verification

SportyBet keeps sign-up short in every country: you register with your phone number and a password, confirm an SMS code, and verify your identity as your activity grows.

  • Nigeria: ChampsBase found a single sign-up screen with phone number, password and an optional referral code, and no document upload. Verification is tiered: confirming your BVN or NIN raises your limits, and its BVN check took under 90 seconds. Its SMS codes took between two and three and a half minutes to arrive.
  • Ghana: Ghanaian rules require identity checks against the Ghana Card, and the Gaming Commission signed an agreement with the National Identification Authority in 2025.
  • Kenya: the Gambling Control Act requires KYC before an account is activated and before the first deposit. Paybillke reports ID and selfie verification at SportyBet Kenya.

📱 SportyBet mobile app

The app is one of SportyBet’s biggest strengths. ChampsBase checked the store listings and tested the Android app in Nigeria:

DetailAndroidiOS
Rating4.5 from 265,000 ratings4.5 from 98,000 ratings
Minimum OSAndroid 7.0iOS 15.0
Size17 MB from Google Play, 79 MB as a direct download227.3 MB
DevicesPhones, tablets and ChromebooksiPhone

Over three days of use, the Android app didn’t crash once, and Face ID worked first time on iPhone. The downside: notifications are on by default, and the tester received 14 unrequested notifications by the second day, so switch off the ones you don’t want.

In Kenya, local sources describe an Android app on Google Play and mobile web access for iPhone users, rather than a native iOS app. Paybillke rated SportyBet Kenya’s app the smoothest of the three big Kenyan brands it compared.

💬 SportyBet customer support

Each country has its own support team. In Nigeria, ChampsBase tested phone and live chat:

  • Phone: four calls, each answered within 90 seconds, with accurate answers.
  • Live chat: slower, with a first reply after 4 minutes 17 seconds in one test and queues of about seven to eight minutes in another. English only.
  • WhatsApp: not offered in Nigeria.

In Kenya, Paybillke lists a SportyBet WhatsApp line, +254 700 200 200, for deposit problems, and rated SportyBet Kenya’s live chat the fastest of the three brands it compared. Support numbers and emails for each country are in the key facts table above.

SportyBet operates under three different legal systems. Here’s what each one means for you.

🇳🇬 Nigeria: states regulate betting

On 22 November 2024, the Supreme Court ruled that lotteries and games of chance are a matter for the states and nullified the National Lottery Act 2005 outside the Federal Capital Territory. The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority, created under a 2021 state law, has become the most important licensing authority, and more than twenty states have joined the Federation of State Gaming Regulators of Nigeria. A national Central Gaming Bill passed the House of Representatives, but the Lagos authority reported on 26 January 2026 that the President had declined to sign it.

Lagos has also tightened its rules in 2026. Lagos High Court judgments confirmed that operators serving Lagos residents need a Lagos licence; on 20 July 2026, Lagos launched a six-month homologation programme requiring games, random number generators and platforms to be tested by an authorised lab; and its September 2026 illegal operators list named 44 companies, including Stake and bet365.

🇬🇭 Ghana: one national regulator

Ghana has a single national regulator, the Gaming Commission of Ghana, under the Gaming Act 2006 (Act 721). Licences are renewed every year and can only be held by limited liability companies, and running an unlicensed gambling business is a criminal offence. You must be 18 or older, and identity checks use the Ghana Card. In 2025, the authorities restricted access to 11 unauthorised gambling websites through the National Communications Authority.

🇰🇪 Kenya: a new law and a new regulator

Kenya’s Gambling Control Act 2025 came into force on 26 August 2025 and replaced the Betting Control and Licensing Board with the Gambling Regulatory Authority. According to iGaming Times, the Act and its regulations set a minimum online stake of KES 20, require winnings to be paid within two days, ban credit cards and crypto for gambling, require KYC before an account is activated, and give players deposit, loss and session limits. As covered above, the authority hadn’t yet published its 2026 licence register by mid-October 2026.

🧾 Tax on SportyBet winnings

CountryWhat players pay
🇳🇬 Nigeria5% withholding tax on net sports winnings at Lagos-licensed operators; ChampsBase reports 20% on SportyBet casino winnings
🇬🇭 GhanaNo tax on winnings: the 10% withholding tax was repealed with effect from 2 April 2025
🇰🇪 Kenya5% excise duty on deposits and 5% withholding tax on withdrawals

How the Nigerian tax shows up on your slip

ChampsBase noticed that SportyBet Nigeria’s betslip shows your gross potential return, not the amount after tax. On a ₦1,000 bet at odds of 3.20, the slip quoted ₦3,200, but ₦3,090 was credited: the profit was ₦2,200, and 5% of that is ₦110. Across six test bets totalling ₦6,000, the four winners returned ₦7,515 after ₦185 of tax. ChampsBase calculated that, at even-money odds, you’d need to win about 51.3% of your bets just to break even after tax.

Why Kenyan deposits cost more

In Kenya, the 5% excise is taken from each deposit, so a KES 1,000 deposit gives you KES 950 to bet with. Another 5% is withheld when you withdraw. Over many deposits and withdrawals, that adds up, so it’s worth depositing less often and in amounts you plan to use.

🧩 SportyBet features explained

FeatureWhat it doesWatch out for
Multi Bet BonusBoosts winnings on multiples, up to 1,000%Each selection must be at 1.20 or more
Flexi BetLets a multiple pay out with some losing selectionsThe return is reduced; check it before you place the bet
Cash outSettle a bet early, fully or partly, or automatically at a set valueOffers change quickly in live play
Bet BuilderCombine several markets from one matchCombined selections are correlated, so prices are adjusted
Booking codesShare a slip or load someone else’sCheck every selection and the odds before you stake
Sporty JetSportyBet’s own crash gameFast and random; set a budget

🧮 Worked example: why long multiples rarely win

The Multi Bet Bonus rewards long accumulators, but every extra leg makes the slip less likely to win. Five selections that each have a 70% chance of winning combine to only about a 17% chance that all five win (0.7 × 0.7 × 0.7 × 0.7 × 0.7 ≈ 0.17). Ten such selections drop to under 3% (0.7 to the power of 10 ≈ 0.028). A big percentage boost on a slip that rarely wins is worth far less than it looks.

🔒 Is SportyBet safe and legit?

SportyBet is a legitimate, licensed brand in Nigeria and Ghana, and was licensed in Kenya on the most recent published register. Here’s the balance of evidence.

Why we trust it

  • Verifiable licences: Marawin Limited on the Lagos register to January 2027, and SportyBet on Ghana’s 2026 register. Dreamhub Technology Limited appears on Kenya’s 2025/26 register.
  • Tested payouts: ChampsBase withdrew ₦26,000 across six payouts in Nigeria, all without fees.
  • Responsible gambling tools that work: ChampsBase found that self-exclusion worked and that a reality-check pop-up appeared after 45 minutes.
  • Data protection: SportyBet Nigeria cites the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

What to watch

  • Kenyan licence status: confirm SportyBet’s 2026 licence with the GRA before depositing.
  • Limits through support: in Nigeria, deposit and loss limits aren’t in your account settings; you have to ask support.
  • Paperwork gaps: ChampsBase found a broken “About Us” page and some contradictory statements about data use between the app stores and the privacy policy.
  • Complaints: in May 2026, Bana Kenya relayed anonymous complaints about delayed withdrawals and account checks after SportyBet’s return to Kenya. They weren’t documented or verified, but they’re a reminder to verify early and keep records.
  • Fake sites and fake bonuses: many websites advertise SportyBet bonuses that SportyBet says it doesn’t offer. Use only the official sportybet.com country sites and apps.

🌍 SportyBet in other African countries

Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya aren’t SportyBet’s only markets. ChampsBase lists several other country sites, each with its own licence:

CountryOperating companyLicence details found by ChampsBase
South AfricaEnziglo (Pty) LtdMpumalanga bookmaker licence 9-2-1-09799, issued 25 September 2025 and renewed each 30 September
TanzaniaMarawin LtdGaming Board of Tanzania; one of two numbers shown by the operator was confirmed on the register
ZambiaNot namedThe footer names a regulator, but ChampsBase couldn’t match it to the official list

In South Africa, the licence is a bookmaker licence only. South African law doesn’t license online casinos, and the legality of casino-style games offered by bookmakers is disputed there, so South African players should stick to sports and horse racing betting. We cover that dispute in our South African guides.

The wider picture explains SportyBet’s position: it’s a pan-African brand that runs each market through a local company and a local licence, while Sporty Group invests in African sports media through SportyTV and SportyFM. For players, the practical lesson is simple: the brand may be the same, but the rules, protections and taxes depend on the country you’re in.

🛠️ Common SportyBet problems and fixes

ProblemWhat to try
First bank withdrawal stuck on “Pending”Wait: in ChampsBase’s tests, the first bank payout of a session took 22–38 minutes. Ask live chat if it takes much longer
Two SMS codes arrive at onceUse the most recent code
Bank transfer deposit not creditedTransfer accounts expire after 30 minutes; generate a new one and try again
Can’t withdraw to a bank accountThe account must be in the same name as your SportyBet account, which is fixed by your first deposit
M-Pesa deposit missing (Kenya)Refresh your balance, then contact support with your M-Pesa confirmation code
Withdrawal limit in KenyaComplete ID and selfie verification to lift the KES 5,000 daily cap on unverified accounts
Too many notificationsTurn them off in the app’s settings
Want a deposit limit (Nigeria)Ask support to set one, as it isn’t in the account menu

📝 How to register at SportyBet

  1. Open your country’s official site. Use sportybet.com/ng, sportybet.com/gh or sportybet.com/ke, or the official app. You must be 18 or older and in that country.
  2. Enter your phone number and a password. Add a referral code only if a friend gave you one.
  3. Confirm the SMS code. If two codes arrive, use the latest.
  4. Verify your identity. In Nigeria, confirm your BVN or NIN; in Ghana, use your Ghana Card details; in Kenya, complete ID and selfie verification.
  5. Set your limits. Decide on a deposit limit before you bet. In Nigeria, ask support to apply it.
  6. Make your first deposit. From ₦100 in Nigeria, from GHS 1 in Ghana, or by M-Pesa paybill 590555 in Kenya. In Nigeria, your first deposit fixes your account name, so pay from an account in your own name.
  7. Check the Promotions page. See which offers apply in your country before you place your first bet.

🌍 Which SportyBet country site is best?

You can’t choose: you must use the site for the country you live in. But it helps to know how the three compare.

🇳🇬 Nigeria

The most tested market. A clear Lagos licence to January 2027, fast OPay payouts, sharp football prices and a ₦10 minimum ticket. No welcome bonus, a 5% tax on net winnings, and limits only through support.

🇬🇭 Ghana

Licensed by the national regulator for 2026, with mobile money payments from GHS 1 and no tax on winnings, which makes every win go further. No confirmed welcome bonus.

🇰🇪 Kenya

Back since 2025 with M-Pesa paybill 590555 and a reported First Deposit Gift. The downsides are taxes on deposits and withdrawals and a licence you should confirm with the GRA while the 2026 register is pending.

🧪 How we reviewed SportyBet

This SportyBet review is based on the regulators’ registers in Lagos, Ghana and Kenya, Sporty Group news coverage and independent reviews published in 2025 and 2026, including ChampsBase’s funded Nigerian test, Paybillke, Football Whispers, Ratingbet, The Game Haus and Ghanaian review sites. Where sources disagreed, for example on welcome bonuses, Kenyan deposit minimums or Kenyan withholding tax rates, we either left the detail out or explained the disagreement. Our score blends all three markets, with extra weight on Nigeria, where hands-on test data was available.

🧘 Responsible gambling

Betting should be entertainment, never a way to make money. Only stake what you can afford to lose, and stop if it stops being fun.

Warning signs

  • Thinking about betting all the time or planning the next slip.
  • Chasing losses or borrowing money to bet.
  • Hiding betting from family or lying about how much you spend.
  • Betting to escape stress or bad feelings.

Using SportyBet’s tools

  1. Set a limit before your first bet. In Nigeria, ask support to set a deposit or loss limit.
  2. Use the reality check. ChampsBase found a pop-up reminder after 45 minutes of play.
  3. Take a break with self-exclusion. ChampsBase reports that SportyBet won’t lift a self-exclusion early.
  4. Turn off notifications if promotional alerts tempt you to bet.

Where to get help

  • 🇳🇬 Nigeria: Gamble Alert, a Nigerian NGO, offers free gambling support (info@gamblealert.org), and Lagos’s SafePlay tool lets you self-exclude from Lagos-licensed platforms.
  • 🇬🇭 Ghana: the Gaming Commission of Ghana runs a self-exclusion programme, and the Mental Health Authority helpline is 0800 678 678.
  • 🇰🇪 Kenya: the Gambling Regulatory Authority helpline is 0800 723 770.

🏁 Final verdict: our SportyBet review

SportyBet is one of the best choices in Africa for football bettors who live on their phones. Across Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya, it offers deep football coverage, competitive prices on top matches, a Multi Bet Bonus of up to 1,000%, free cash out and a highly rated app, and in Nigeria its OPay payouts arrived in under a minute in testing.

It isn’t perfect. There’s no welcome bonus in Nigeria and no confirmed one in Ghana, Nigerian players have to ask support for deposit limits, the casino publishes no RTPs, and in Kenya you should confirm the 2026 licence with the GRA before you deposit. Ghanaian players get the best tax deal, with no tax on winnings, while Kenyans pay on both deposits and withdrawals.

Our advice for any country: register on the official site, verify straight away, set a limit, make a small deposit and test a small withdrawal before you bet bigger. We’ll update this SportyBet review when the licences renew, Kenya publishes its 2026 register or SportyBet changes its offers.

Our overall score: 8.3/10.
