Posted on 23 April 2024

Best Betting Sites in Kenya for October 2026

The best betting sites in Kenya right now are Betika, SportPesa and SportyBet. All three appear on the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya (GRA) register of licensed gaming companies for the 2025/26 trading period, take M-Pesa deposits through their own paybills and cover the Premier League, local football and big weekly jackpots.

Below you’ll find our ranking of nine Kenyan bookmakers, the welcome offers we could actually confirm, how the 5% deposit and 5% withdrawal taxes work in 2026, and what the switch from the BCLB to the new GRA means for your account right now.

Advertising disclosure: AffSupreme may earn a commission when you sign up through links on this page. This never changes our ranking criteria, and we only list operators that appear on Kenya’s official licence register. Gambling is for adults 18+, it can be addictive and it involves financial risk.

📌 Key takeaways

  • Kenya’s Gambling Control Act, 2025 came into force on 26 August 2025 and replaced the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) with the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya (GRA).
  • Every bookmaker in our top 9 is listed on the GRA register for the 2025/26 trading period. The GRA has opened a new licensing round, and its 2026 register had not been published when we checked on 17 October 2026.
  • Bettors pay 5% excise duty on deposits and 5% withholding tax on withdrawals. Since 1 July 2026, the 20% winnings tax applies only to lotteries and prize competitions, not to sports betting.
  • 1xBet has the largest welcome bonus we could confirm in Kenya: a first-deposit sports bonus of up to KES 20,000.
  • The minimum online stake in Kenya is KES 20 by law, credit cards are banned for gambling, and you must pass identity and age checks before your first deposit.

🇰🇪 Top 9 best betting sites in Kenya (October 2026)

Our ranking puts licensing first, then football and jackpot coverage, the fairness of any welcome offer, M-Pesa payments, the mobile experience and responsible gambling tools. Every brand below appears, under its operating company, on the GRA’s published list of licensed gaming companies for the 2025/26 trading period.

⚠️ Licence status in October 2026: the GRA set 24 September 2026 as the end date for licences issued under the old law and asked every operator to apply again under the 2026 regulations. A High Court case over the new licence fees is still open, and the court said its existing orders were meant to prevent operators’ paybills from being switched off. The GRA had not published a register of new 2026 licences when we checked on 17 October 2026. We’ll update this page as soon as it does.

🔎 Detailed reviews of the best betting sites in Kenya

Each review covers the operator’s place on the licence register, any welcome offer we could confirm, football and jackpot coverage, M-Pesa payments, the mobile experience and who the site suits best. We focus on what matters to Kenyan bettors: a trustworthy paybill, quick M-Pesa withdrawals, low stakes and honest terms.

1. Betika review: Kenya’s all-round favourite

★★★★★9.4/10
🛡️ Licence: GRA register 2025/26, Shop & Deliver Limited (BK 0001117, PG 0001113)
📲 Paybill: 290290 (account: BETIKA or your phone number)
🏆 Jackpots: Grand Jackpot and Midweek Jackpot
📱 App: iOS app, Betika Lite and mobile web

Overview and licence

Betika is the first name most Kenyan punters think of, and the data backs that up. In Blask’s September 2026 market snapshot, Betika held 29.1% of all betting brand search demand in Kenya, up from 25.7% in July, putting it comfortably ahead of every rival. It’s operated by Shop & Deliver Limited, which appears on the GRA’s list of licensed gaming companies for the 2025/26 trading period with bookmaker licence 0001117 and public gaming licence 0001113.

Like every operator in Kenya, Betika has to apply again under the new 2026 regulations, so check the GRA website for the updated register once it’s published.

💰 Promotions

Betika doesn’t use promo codes: new customers can’t enter one when they open an account. During our research we found several different figures quoted for Betika’s welcome offer, ranging from a small free bet to a percentage deposit match, so we don’t quote a number here. Look at the promotions page inside your account for the current offer and its rollover, minimum odds and expiry before you opt in.

Where Betika really competes is jackpots. The 17-game Grand Jackpot and the Midweek Jackpot give low-stake players a shot at a large prize, and both are easy to enter from the app or the website.

⚽ Football and markets

Football is the core of the sportsbook, with extensive Premier League coverage and the major European leagues, and live betting is available on the biggest matches. Casino games and crash games sit alongside the sportsbook, so one account covers everything.

💳 Deposits and withdrawals

Deposit through M-Pesa paybill 290290, using either the word BETIKA or your registered Safaricom number as the account. Airtel Money and bank transfer are also offered. Remember that Kenya’s 5% excise duty is taken from every deposit, so KES 1,000 sent reaches your wallet as KES 950, and the 5% withholding tax is deducted when you withdraw.

📱 Mobile app

Betika publishes an iOS app on the App Store and also offers Betika Lite for phones with limited storage or patchy data. The full mobile site loads quickly too, which matters if you’re betting on the move.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Kenya’s most searched betting brand in September 2026
  • ✅ Grand and Midweek jackpots
  • ✅ M-Pesa, Airtel Money and bank transfer
  • ✅ iOS app plus Betika Lite

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Welcome offer details vary by source; check in-app
  • ⚠️ No promo codes for extra sign-up value
Best for: Kenyan punters who want one trusted account for football, jackpots, virtuals and Aviator, with the simplest M-Pesa flow.

2. SportPesa review: the home of the Mega Jackpot

★★★★★9.2/10
🛡️ Licence: GRA register 2025/26, Milestone Games Limited (0001193)
📲 Paybill: 955100
🏆 Jackpot: 17-game Mega Jackpot, KES 99 per entry
✉️ SMS: jackpot predictions to 79079

Overview and licence

SportPesa is one of the most famous names in Kenyan sport. It left the market during the 2019 licensing dispute and returned on 30 October 2020, and today it trades through Milestone Games Limited, which is listed on the GRA register for the 2025/26 trading period. In Blask’s September 2026 data, SportPesa gained 1.5 points of search share and moved up to second place in Kenya behind Betika.

The brand is also a major sports sponsor at home. In 2026 it backs the six-leg National 7s rugby circuit, and its World Cup campaign “Katambe na SportPesa” ran during the summer.

🏆 The Mega Jackpot

The Mega Jackpot is the reason many Kenyans open a SportPesa account. You predict the outcomes of 17 football matches for a KES 99 stake. The same entry also counts towards the 13, 14 and 15-game jackpots, and SportPesa pays bonuses for near-misses, from 12 up to 16 correct predictions in the 17-game category. The pot rolls over when nobody wins, and it has passed KES 400 million in the past.

You can enter on the website, in the app or by SMS: send your predictions to 79079. Treat the stake as the cost of entertainment, because the chance of predicting all 17 results is tiny.

💰 Welcome offer

Sources gave conflicting figures for a SportPesa welcome bonus, so we don’t list one. The value here is the jackpot, plus regular campaigns for existing customers.

⚽ Sportsbook and features

Beyond the jackpot, SportPesa covers pre-match and live odds on football, basketball and tennis. An app update added full cash out across games, so you can settle a bet early, and Aviator is available for crash-game fans.

💳 Payments and app

Deposit with M-Pesa paybill 955100, using your registered Safaricom number as the account, or pay the SportPesa paybill from Airtel Money. SportPesa offers an Android app, and the mobile site covers the full product.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Kenya’s best-known 17-game jackpot from KES 99
  • ✅ Bonuses for near-misses
  • ✅ SMS jackpot entry on 79079
  • ✅ Full cash out in the app

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ No welcome bonus we could confirm
  • ⚠️ Fewer casino extras than some rivals
Best for: jackpot fans who want a big weekend prize for a small stake, and football bettors who value cash out.

3. SportyBet review: the best mobile betting experience

★★★★½9.0/10
🛡️ Licence: GRA register 2025/26, Dreamhub Technology Limited (BK 0001203, PG 0001202)
💰 Welcome offer: First Deposit Gift, up to KES 1,500
📲 Paybill: 590555
📱 App: Android app and mobile site

Overview and licence

SportyBet launched in Kenya in 2018 and is run locally by Dreamhub Technology Limited, which holds bookmaker licence 0001203 and public gaming licence 0001202 on the GRA register for 2025/26. Its strength is speed: the interface is simple, pages load quickly on mid-range phones, and bet slips are easy to build and share.

💰 First Deposit Gift

New Kenyan customers can claim SportyBet’s First Deposit Gift, paid as free-bet gifts rather than cash. The reward is up to 300% of your first deposit, capped at KES 1,500, in tiers: KES 100 earns KES 300, KES 200 earns KES 600, KES 300 earns KES 900 and KES 500 earns the full KES 1,500. It’s one gift per account.

Free-bet gifts come with their own rules on minimum odds and expiry, and we saw different minimum-odds figures quoted, so read the gift terms in your account before you bet. With most free bets, you keep the winnings but not the gift’s stake.

⚽ Football and features

SportyBet covers the Premier League and other top competitions with plenty of markets per match, plus live betting. It also runs a multi bet bonus on accumulators and a refer-a-friend reward for existing customers.

💳 Deposits and withdrawals

Fund your account with M-Pesa paybill 590555 or an STK push from the app. Independent testers rate SportyBet among the fastest Kenyan bookmakers for routine M-Pesa withdrawals, though timings always depend on verification and network conditions.

📱 Mobile app

SportyBet offers an Android app and a fast mobile site. There’s no iOS app, so iPhone users bet through the browser, which offers the same features.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Clear, tiered First Deposit Gift up to KES 1,500
  • ✅ Fast, light interface
  • ✅ Multi bet bonus on accumulators
  • ✅ Quick M-Pesa payouts

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Gift paid as free bets, not cash
  • ⚠️ No iOS app
Best for: mobile bettors who want a smooth app, a simple first-deposit reward and fast M-Pesa withdrawals.

4. Odibets review: virtuals, Aviator and app rewards

★★★★½8.8/10
🛡️ Licence: GRA register 2025/26, Kareco Holdings Limited (0001095, 0001096, 0001097)
📲 Paybill: 290680
🎮 Standout: OdiLeague virtual football
🎁 Promo: Zoza na Odibets App, up to KES 50,000 weekly

Overview and licence

Odibets is a home-grown Kenyan bookmaker operated by Kareco Holdings Limited, which holds three licence entries on the GRA’s 2025/26 list. It has built its following on low-stake betting, a light app and products you won’t find everywhere, from OdiLeague virtual football to gamified Aviator challenges.

🎁 Promotions

Rather than a big sign-up bonus, Odibets focuses on ongoing rewards. Its “Zoza na Odibets App” promotion, launched in March 2026, pays app users weekly rewards of up to KES 50,000 for betting through the mobile app. In February 2026 Odibets also added structured missions, races and leaderboard tournaments to Aviator, giving crash-game players shared prize pools.

We couldn’t confirm a current welcome bonus, so check the promotions page in your account.

🎮 OdiLeague and live betting

OdiLeague is Odibets’ own virtual football league, with quick matches and instant results on familiar markets such as both teams to score and over/under goals. For real football, the app offers live betting on football, basketball, rugby and cricket, cash out and the OdiTV streaming feature for selected matches.

💳 Payments and app

Deposit through M-Pesa paybill 290680 with your phone number as the account. The Odibets app includes responsible gambling tools that let you set betting limits, and the brand also supports SMS and USSD for basic phones.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ OdiLeague virtual football
  • ✅ Weekly app rewards up to KES 50,000
  • ✅ Aviator missions and leaderboards
  • ✅ Limit-setting tools in the app

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ No welcome bonus we could confirm
  • ⚠️ Promotions change often
Best for: low-stake punters who enjoy virtuals and crash games and like recurring rewards more than a one-off bonus.

5. Mozzartbet review: jackpots, casino and shops

★★★★½8.6/10
🛡️ Licence: GRA register 2025/26, Mozzartbet Kenya Limited (BK 0001188, PG 0001189)
📲 Paybill: 290059
🏆 Jackpots: Super Grand Jackpot and daily jackpots
📱 App: Android and iOS

Overview and licence

Mozzartbet has been part of the Kenyan market for years and trades through Mozzartbet Kenya Limited, listed on the GRA register for 2025/26 with bookmaker licence 0001188 and public gaming licence 0001189. It combines a large sportsbook, casino games and a physical shop network, which is still useful for people who prefer to collect winnings in person.

🏆 Jackpots and promotions

Jackpots are Mozzart’s headline product. The Super Grand Jackpot asks you to predict a long list of football results for a big prize, and Mozzart also runs shorter daily jackpots. Welcome offer figures differed from one source to another during our research, so we don’t quote one; check the current offer in your account.

⚽ Sportsbook and casino

Mozzart’s sportsbook offers live betting and cash out in the app, and the casino side adds more than 1,600 games, including slots and live casino. Seasoned bettors appreciate the depth of markets and the customisable interface, although new users may find the menus busy at first.

💳 Payments and app

Deposit with M-Pesa paybill 290059, using your registered phone number as the account; the M-Pesa message should show Mozzart as the recipient. You can also withdraw cash at Mozzart shops. The app is available for both Android and iOS.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Big jackpot products
  • ✅ Apps for Android and iOS
  • ✅ Cash withdrawals at shops
  • ✅ Wide market and casino range

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Welcome offer details vary by source
  • ⚠️ Busy interface for beginners
Best for: experienced punters who want jackpots, casino and sportsbook in one place, plus the option of a local shop.
Visit Mozzartbet 18+ | T&Cs apply | Gambling is addictive, play responsibly

6. betPawa review: built for low-stake multibets

★★★★☆8.5/10
🛡️ Licence: GRA licensed list 2025/26, Nanovas International (K) Limited
📲 Paybill: 290020
🧮 Standout: Win Bonus on winning multibets
📱 Access: Android app, mobile web on iOS

Overview and licence

betPawa operates in Kenya through Nanovas International (K) Limited, which was among the companies approved for licensing for the 2025/26 financial year. It’s a pan-African brand with a simple philosophy: low minimum stakes, a light site and a reward model built around accumulators. In September 2026 it moved into fourth place in Blask’s ranking of Kenyan betting brands by search share, ahead of Odibets.

betPawa is also visible in local sport. In July 2026 it signed a KES 17.3 million Locker Room Bonus deal with the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League, paying players and staff from winning teams after every league victory.

🧮 The Win Bonus

Instead of a traditional welcome bonus with rollover, betPawa pays a Win Bonus: when a qualifying multibet wins, you get an extra percentage on top of your normal winnings. The more legs you add, the bigger the percentage, and the bonus has no wagering requirement. It doesn’t apply to jackpot bets. Remember that every extra leg also makes your slip much harder to win.

⚽ Markets and products

You’ll find sports betting, live betting, virtual sports, casino games, Aviator and jackpots. The interface is deliberately simple, which suits first-time bettors.

💳 Payments and app

Deposit through M-Pesa paybill 290020 with your phone number as the account; the recipient should read BETPAWA. If you use Airtel Money, you’ll need to move funds to M-Pesa first, because the paybill runs on Safaricom. Android users can use the app, while iPhone users bet on betpawa.co.ke in the browser.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Win Bonus with no wagering
  • ✅ Very low stakes
  • ✅ Simple, light interface

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ No welcome bonus we could confirm
  • ⚠️ Win Bonus rewards long, risky accumulators
  • ⚠️ No iOS app
Best for: small-stake accumulator fans who prefer a no-strings boost on winnings to a sign-up bonus with rollover.
Visit betPawa 18+ | T&Cs apply | Gambling is addictive, play responsibly

7. 1xBet review: the biggest confirmed welcome bonus

★★★★☆8.3/10
🛡️ Licence: GRA register 2025/26, Advanced Gaming Limited (BK 0001232, PG 0001233)
💰 Welcome bonus: first-deposit sports bonus up to KES 20,000
📲 Paybill: 290011
🌐 Kenyan site: 1xbet.co.ke

Overview and licence

1xBet serves Kenyan players through 1xbet.co.ke, operated by Advanced Gaming Limited. That company appears on the GRA register for 2025/26 with bookmaker licence 0001232 and public gaming licence 0001233, with 1xbet.co.ke listed as its domain. Use that address when you register, so your account sits with the Kenyan licensee.

💰 Welcome bonus

New Kenyan customers can choose a first-deposit sports bonus worth up to KES 20,000, the largest welcome offer we could confirm in this ranking. The bonus is credited after your first qualifying deposit and comes with wagering conditions, which you’ll see when you opt in. Read them carefully: 1xBet bonuses are generous on paper but take real work to clear.

⚽ Markets

Market depth is 1xBet’s calling card. Its sportsbook is one of the widest you can use in Kenya, which suits bettors who like niche leagues and special markets as well as the big European fixtures.

💳 Payments

You can deposit with M-Pesa through paybill 290011. The 5% deposit excise and 5% withdrawal tax apply exactly as they do at local brands.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Welcome bonus up to KES 20,000
  • ✅ Widest market range in our list
  • ✅ Local licensee on the GRA register

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Complex bonus wagering rules
  • ⚠️ Busy site that can overwhelm beginners
Best for: experienced bettors who want the biggest sign-up offer and the deepest choice of markets.

8. 22Bet review: 100% first-deposit match

💰 Welcome bonus: 100% up to KES 19,000
🌐 Kenyan site: 22bet.co.ke

Overview and licence

22Bet operates in Kenya through Nuntis Holdings Limited, listed on the GRA register for 2025/26 with bookmaker licence 0001293 and gaming licence 0001294, and 22bet.co.ke as its domain. The brand runs separate licensed companies in several African countries, so make sure you’re on the Kenyan site.

💰 Welcome bonus

New customers can get a 100% match on their first deposit, up to KES 19,000. Deposit KES 2,000 and you get KES 2,000 in bonus funds. 22Bet offers a broad sportsbook with international odds and wide esports coverage, alongside a casino section in the same account.

💳 Payments

M-Pesa is available for deposits and withdrawals. We saw two different paybill numbers published for 22Bet, so we don’t print one here: always copy the paybill shown in your 22Bet account’s deposit screen.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Sports and casino in one account
  • ✅ Both licence numbers on the GRA register

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ Conflicting paybill numbers online
  • ⚠️ Less local focus than Kenyan brands

Overview and licence

Shabiki is a Kenyan-focused bookmaker run by Playco Technology Limited, which holds bookmaker licence 0001080 and public gaming licence 0001082 on the GRA register for 2025/26. One tip: some independent checkers have noticed older licence numbers in Shabiki’s website footer, so match the company name against the GRA register rather than relying on the footer.

🏆 Supa Jackpot

Shabiki’s flagship is the Supa Jackpot, a progressive 17-game football jackpot that launched at KES 100 million and grows every week until someone wins. You enter for KES 99 on shabiki.com/jackpot or through the Shabiki USSD code, and bonus categories reward near-misses. Shabiki has also run smaller guaranteed jackpots over the years, entered by SMS to 29063.

⚽ Sportsbook

Alongside jackpots, Shabiki offers a football-led sportsbook. It’s less feature-rich than Betika or SportyBet, but it’s simple to use on any phone.

💳 Payments

Deposit through M-Pesa paybill 290063, using your registered phone number as the account; the M-Pesa message should show SHABIKI as the recipient. The 5% deposit excise is deducted automatically.

✅ Pros

  • ✅ Progressive 17-game Supa Jackpot
  • ✅ Works by SMS and USSD on basic phones
  • ✅ Both licence numbers on the GRA register

⚠️ Cons

  • ⚠️ No welcome bonus we could confirm
  • ⚠️ Fewer features than the market leaders
Best for: jackpot players on basic phones who want to bet by SMS or USSD.

🧪 How we rank betting sites in Kenya

A good ranking starts with the dull but essential question: is the operator allowed to take bets from Kenyans? Only after that do jackpots, bonuses and app features matter. Here’s how we weigh each factor when we build this list of the best betting sites in Kenya.

  • 30%
🛡️ Licence and safety. We match each brand’s operating company and licence numbers against the GRA’s published list of licensed gaming companies, and we check regulator announcements about illegal sites. A brand we can’t find on the register doesn’t make the list, however big its bonus.
  • 20%
💰 Bonus value and fairness. We only quote offers we could confirm, and we look at the size of the reward, how it’s paid (cash, bonus funds or free bets) and how hard the conditions are. Where reliable sources disagreed, we left the figure out.
  • 20%
⚽ Markets and jackpots. Football depth comes first, then live betting, virtual sports and, because this is Kenya, the quality of the weekly jackpots.
  • 15%
💳 Payments. A clear, verifiable M-Pesa paybill, quick withdrawals and extra options such as Airtel Money, bank transfer or cash at shops.
  • 10%
📱 Mobile experience. Apps, light versions, SMS and USSD access and how well the site works on mid-range phones and slower connections.
  • 5%
🧘 Responsible gambling. Deposit limits, self-exclusion, 18+ messaging and identity checks.
ℹ️ Our scores are editorial judgements based on these criteria and on publicly available information. We haven’t run deposit or withdrawal tests for this update. We’ll refresh licence details as soon as the GRA publishes its 2026 register.

Yes. Sports betting, online casino and lotteries are legal in Kenya when you use a licensed operator, and you must be 18 or older. The rules, and the regulator, changed recently, so here’s what Kenyan bettors need to know in October 2026.

The Gambling Control Act, 2025 and the new GRA

The Gambling Control Act, 2025 was signed on 7 August 2025 and came into force on 26 August 2025. It repealed the Betting, Lotteries and Gaming Act of 1966 and replaced the Betting Control and Licensing Board with the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya. Online bookmaking, online casino and online lottery are now separate licence classes. Licensees must be Kenyan-registered companies with at least 30% of shares held by Kenyan citizens, and they must bank all gambling money with a Kenyan institution.

The 2026 regulations and the licensing round

Detailed regulations followed on 29 June 2026, covering licensing, the conduct of gambling operations, foreign-based operators, advertising and a new Gambling Appeals Tribunal. They require operators to verify your identity, age and location before your account is activated and before your first deposit, to offer daily, weekly and monthly deposit limits, and to connect to the GRA’s real-time monitoring system.

The GRA opened applications for new licences on 18 August 2026 and set 24 September 2026 as the end date for licences issued under the old law. Meanwhile, a judicial review challenges the steep new licence fees and capital requirements. The High Court let the GRA keep processing applications and collecting fees on an undertaking to refund them if the court later finds them unlawful. Judgment was expected on 2 October 2026 but wasn’t delivered, and the case was listed for mention on 12 October.

Rules that protect you as a player

  • The minimum online stake is KES 20, set in the Act itself.
  • Credit cards are banned for gambling; debit cards, bank transfers and mobile money are allowed. Crypto gambling is prohibited.
  • Monetary winnings must be credited to your account within two days.
  • Operators must offer self-exclusion, and the GRA keeps a national self-exclusion register.
  • Gambling ads need prior approval and can’t run on TV or radio between 06:00 and 22:00 except during live sport.
⚠️ Unlicensed sites can take your deposit and refuse to pay out. In April 2025 the BCLB ordered the shutdown of more than 50 illegal betting websites, including crash-game sites such as Cheza Crash, Skai Crash and Aviator 254, and told Safaricom to suspend their paybills. Always match a site’s company name and licence number against the GRA register before you deposit.

🧾 Betting tax in Kenya 2026

Kenya’s betting taxes changed twice in two years, and many guides online are out of date. Here is how it works for bettors right now.

📥

5% excise duty on deposits

Since 1 July 2025, excise duty is charged at 5% of the amount you deposit for betting, instead of on each stake. The Finance Act, 2026 widened what counts as a deposit from 1 July 2026. In practice, KES 1,000 sent to your betting wallet arrives as KES 950.

📤

5% withholding tax on withdrawals

When you withdraw, the operator deducts 5% withholding tax and remits it to the Kenya Revenue Authority. Withdraw KES 2,000 and KES 1,900 reaches your M-Pesa.

🎟️

20% only on lotteries

The Finance Bill 2026 proposed bringing back a 20% tax on winnings. The final Finance Act, 2026 limits that 20% rate to winnings from lotteries and prize competitions, so sports betting stays on the 5% withdrawal model.

🏢

Operator taxes

Operators separately pay 15% tax on gross gaming revenue. That doesn’t come out of your winnings, but it shapes the odds and promotions they can afford.

🎁 Betting bonuses in Kenya explained

Kenyan bookmakers compete less on huge sign-up bonuses than operators in other markets. The law bans offers designed to push people to gamble more, while still allowing free bets and bonus bets in the ordinary course of business. These are the promotion types you’ll meet at the best betting sites in Kenya, with real examples.

💰

Deposit match bonus

The bookmaker adds bonus funds based on your first deposit. 22Bet matches 100% up to KES 19,000, and 1xBet offers a first-deposit sports bonus of up to KES 20,000. Both come with wagering conditions before bonus winnings can be withdrawn.

🎟️

First-deposit free bets

SportyBet’s First Deposit Gift pays up to 300% of your first deposit as free-bet gifts, capped at KES 1,500 for a KES 500 deposit. With most free bets, you keep the winnings but not the stake.

🧮

Win and multibet bonuses

betPawa’s Win Bonus adds a percentage to your winnings when a qualifying multibet wins, with no wagering, and SportyBet runs a multi bet bonus too. Remember that every extra leg makes the slip harder to win.

🏆

Jackpots

Kenya’s signature product. SportPesa’s Mega Jackpot and Shabiki’s Supa Jackpot both cost KES 99 for 17 predictions, Betika runs Grand and Midweek jackpots, and Mozzart has its Super Grand Jackpot. Bonus categories pay something for near-misses.

📱

App and loyalty rewards

Odibets’ “Zoza na Odibets App” pays weekly rewards of up to KES 50,000 to people betting through its app.

✈️

Crash-game challenges

Odibets added missions, races and leaderboard tournaments with shared prize pools to Aviator in February 2026.

ℹ️ Wagering in plain words (example only): if a KES 1,000 deposit earns a KES 1,000 bonus and the rule is “bonus 5 times”, you must place KES 5,000 in qualifying bets, at the minimum odds stated, before you can withdraw bonus winnings. Each operator sets its own multiplier, odds and deadline, so read the terms before you opt in.

💳 Deposits and withdrawals at Kenyan betting sites

Almost every Kenyan bettor pays with M-Pesa. These are the methods we confirmed at the best betting sites in Kenya on our list.

📲

M-Pesa paybill

Every brand in our list takes M-Pesa. Paybills: Betika 290290, SportPesa 955100, SportyBet 590555, Odibets 290680, Mozzartbet 290059, betPawa 290020, 1xBet 290011 and Shabiki 290063.

🔴

Airtel Money

Betika and SportPesa accept Airtel Money. For paybills that run on Safaricom, such as betPawa’s, move funds to M-Pesa first.

🏦

Bank transfer

Betika lists bank transfer as a deposit option. The law allows electronic funds transfers and debit cards, but not credit cards.

#️⃣

SMS and USSD

Handy without data. SportPesa takes jackpot entries by SMS to 79079, Shabiki uses SMS 29063 and a USSD menu, and Odibets supports SMS and USSD.

🏪

Cash at shops

Mozzartbet lets you withdraw cash at its shops.

🚫

Not allowed

Credit cards and crypto. Kenya’s 2026 rules ban credit for gambling and prohibit virtual assets unless the GRA approves them.

⚠️ Scammers post fake “new paybill” numbers on WhatsApp and TikTok. Copy the paybill from the operator’s own app, and check that the M-Pesa confirmation names the bookmaker. If it shows a person’s name, you paid the wrong account.

  2. Create your account. Register with your Kenyan phone number and confirm the SMS code. You must be 18 or older.

  5. Opt in and deposit. If there’s a welcome offer, opt in as the terms describe, then deposit via the paybill shown in the app. Remember the 5% excise is deducted from your deposit.
  6. Read the bonus rules. Check the wagering multiplier, minimum odds and expiry before your first bet, and track progress in your account.

💡 Expert betting tips and common mistakes

✅ Do this

  • Check the operator on the GRA register before depositing.
  • Copy the paybill from the official app, never from social media.
  • Set deposit limits on day one.
  • Factor the 5% deposit and 5% withdrawal taxes into your budget.
  • Treat jackpot stakes as entertainment, not a plan.

❌ Avoid this

  • Opening several accounts to claim one bonus again.
  • Chasing losses with longer accumulators.
  • Borrowing from mobile lending apps to bet.
  • Using sites the regulator has named as illegal.
  • Trusting “Aviator predictor” apps or signal groups; crash results are random.

🧘 Responsible gambling in Kenya

Gambling is addictive. Bet only what you can afford to lose, never treat betting as income, and stop if it stops being fun. Kenya’s Ministry of Health has described rising gambling addiction, especially among young people, as an emerging public health threat.

Warning signs

  • Thinking about betting all the time or planning the next slip.
  • Chasing losses or borrowing money to bet.
  • Hiding betting from family or lying about how much you spend.
  • Betting to escape stress or bad feelings.
  • Missing work, school or family commitments because of betting.

Tools that help

Licensed operators must offer deposit, loss and session limits, reality checks and self-exclusion of at least 24 hours. Through the GRA you can self-exclude from gambling operators for a period typically from 6 months to 5 years: visit the GRA offices or email support@bclb.go.ke saying you want to self-exclude. You’ll be removed from marketing lists, and you can’t end the exclusion early.

Where to get support

The GRA runs a free toll-free line on 0800 723 770 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm). The Ministry of Health has set up a helpline, 719, for people affected by gambling addiction. The free one2one 1190 hotline is listed for gambling concerns, and you can find other free, confidential services at Find A Helpline.

🔞 18+ only. Never let anyone under 18 use your betting account or your M-Pesa line.

❓ Frequently asked questions

What is the best betting site in Kenya in 2026?

Betika is our top pick for October 2026. It’s listed on the GRA register through Shop & Deliver Limited, offers Grand and Midweek jackpots, accepts M-Pesa, Airtel Money and bank transfer, and was Kenya’s most searched betting brand in September 2026.

Which betting site in Kenya has the biggest welcome bonus?

Among the offers we could confirm, 1xBet has the largest: a first-deposit sports bonus of up to KES 20,000 on 1xbet.co.ke. 22Bet follows with a 100% match up to KES 19,000.

Is betting legal in Kenya?

Yes, with a licensed operator and if you’re 18 or older. Betting is regulated under the Gambling Control Act, 2025, which came into force on 26 August 2025 and created the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya to replace the BCLB.

Who regulates betting in Kenya now, the BCLB or the GRA?

The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya (GRA). It replaced the Betting Control and Licensing Board under the Gambling Control Act, 2025. Some operator websites still show BCLB wording on licences issued before the change.

How do I check if a betting site is licensed in Kenya?

Look up the operator’s company or trading name on the GRA’s list of licensed operators at gra.go.ke and compare the licence numbers with those on the betting site. The GRA set 24 September 2026 as the end of licences issued under the old law, so look for the new 2026 register once it’s published.

How much tax do I pay on betting in Kenya in 2026?

You pay 5% excise duty on deposits and 5% withholding tax on withdrawals, both deducted automatically. Since 1 July 2026 the 20% winnings tax applies only to lotteries and prize competitions, not to sports betting.

What is the minimum bet in Kenya?

The Gambling Control Act, 2025 sets a minimum online stake of KES 20. Jackpots such as SportPesa’s Mega Jackpot and Shabiki’s Supa Jackpot cost KES 99 per entry.

Which betting sites accept Airtel Money?

We confirmed Airtel Money deposits at Betika and SportPesa. Other brands in our ranking take M-Pesa paybill deposits, so Airtel users may need to move funds to M-Pesa first.

Is Betway available in Kenya?

No. Betway stopped taking deposits and new registrations in Kenya on 16 May 2023, and its local company later filed for liquidation amid a tax dispute with the Kenya Revenue Authority.

How do I self-exclude from betting in Kenya?

Visit the GRA offices or email support@bclb.go.ke saying you want to self-exclude. Exclusion periods typically run from 6 months to 5 years, and you can’t end them early. You can also ask each operator to self-exclude you from its site.

🚫 Brands we left out of this ranking

Some well-known names don’t appear above. Here’s why.

  • Betway: stopped taking deposits and new registrations in Kenya in May 2023, and its local company has filed for liquidation.
  • 1win (1win-kenya.com): named on the BCLB’s April 2025 list of betting websites operating illegally in Kenya.
  • Cheza Crash, Skai Crash, Vuma Bet and Aviator 254: ordered shut down by the BCLB in April 2025 for operating without approval.
  • Melbet: listed on the GRA register (Game Tosha Limited), but we couldn’t verify enough current product details to review it fairly this month.

🏁 Final verdict: the best betting sites in Kenya

Kenya’s betting market is in the middle of its biggest reset in decades. The Gambling Control Act, 2025 replaced the BCLB with the GRA, new rules arrived in June 2026, and every operator has had to apply for a fresh licence while the courts settle the fee dispute. Bettors now pay 5% on deposits and 5% on withdrawals, and the law adds real protections, from a KES 20 minimum stake to mandatory deposit limits.

For most people, Betika is the best betting site in Kenya: a trusted local brand on the GRA register, Grand and Midweek jackpots and the most flexible payments. Jackpot fans should try SportPesa, mobile bettors will love SportyBet, and bonus hunters get the most from 1xBet‘s offer of up to KES 20,000.

Whichever site you choose, check the licence, copy the paybill from the official app, set a deposit limit and bet only what you can afford to lose.
